Is there much good riding straight from Bala or do you need to drive to get to the trails?
Thanks.
Any local knowledge on here?
Berwyns are doable and you can ride a bit around llyn verwyn.

Colin has some good routes on here if you don't mind cycling out to them...

The Berwyn one is also called the wayfarer. Classic old route. Really hard but some amazing views and some good descents.
So to answer your question maybe take your car:)
There is some cracking road riding around there, especially over the hills to Lake Vyrnwy and back
Thanks guys.
I'm not local, but am reasonably familiar with the area (pre-Covid, at any rate.) There's not much, if anything, in the way of constructed trails until you get away west to the likes of Coed-y-Brenin, which is probably a bit far to ride to and ride back afterwards. But there are some forest tracks and the like in the hills immediately to the south of the town/Llyn Bala area. And as others have mentioned, there's the Berwyns a little way to the east - could try A bit like the Wayfarer, but avoiding the main track if you're looking for a good, old-fashioned day out on those hills.
I love a good old fashioned day out exploring the hills, that looks fantastic....need to work on my fitness to tackle that much climbing in one sitting though 😂
That's a handy thread we've got a trip to Bala planned in the summer.

We stay there for the Dyfi when it's on. All the best stuff is a bit of a drive away Llandegla, Coed y Brenin etc. Good centralish place to stay.
