I have led the securing of 2 years funding for the delivery of trail therapy project in Plymouth for people suffering from isolation, loneliness and mental issues after covid.
It will consist of 10 weeks of 1 day a week working in the workshop, building confidence/skills and then going to local riding spots. The aim is to give individuals the skills to use cycling to help deal with mental health issues. This is something many of us do already.
We have started the first group but are looking at for the next group of 4-6 participants in September. If anyone happens to be working with groups that may benefit from this please may contact. It is all being run through CIC.
Unfortunately due to personal circumstances I haven't been able to be involved in the delivery and have just managed it until now but am leaving it to others now as time is precious at the moment.
I would like to put it in a good position before I concentrate on other things.
Any help form STW would be greatly appreciated. I am very proud to have led the funding for this and a bit gutted leaving it behind!!

Thanks. Really exciting and potential to be increased in size. All funding has come from a charity foundation which makes it easier to run!

Have you been in touch with Jay and Maddie Horton? They run the soggy bottom races and filthy foxes courses. They might know people from those courses who this would benefit.

Also try Rockets and Rascals (Steve Toze?)

Fantastic sounding initiative - good luck with it!

Brilliant, that’s a great resource you’re setting up. Up until last year I’d spent the last 20 years working in Devon mental health services and I can link you in to the right people in the local NHS mental health Trusts if helpful - PM me.
Have you also been in touch with Niamh Mitchell (@TheOutdoorOT on Twitter) from Edinburgh who is researching the mental health benefits of mountain biking based at Glentress? They are a very approachable group - I went to meet them a few years back looking to do something similar in Devon but the pandemic put pay to that idea - wish I was still there now! Good luck and do post here how it’s going.
