I hope that the STW forum might be able to help.
After my wife became ill last year life has changed for me. From being a builder and property developer I haven't worked for a year whilst being needed at home.
The constant I have had is cycling both by myself and with my 3 girls whilst they ride and race. It has been my headspace time.
Whilst all this has happened I have been working with a local bike project to take kids excluded from school out riding and learning how to mend bikes. I have always been a non executive director but now we are working towards some more projects.
One of these is a trail therapy project, similar to the Scottish project.
We are thinking of working with focused groups to start with but I would really appreciate any experience people might have on the Scottish project.
I am attending a funding launch this week where I will be discussing the project for the first time and would love to be fully prepared.
Thanks in advance.
Nothing constructive to add, but that sounds like a fantastic thing to be getting started - I hope it starts small and grows big and helps many people.
DickBarton. That is the aim. Try a few small groups first moving on to multiple groups. The main person at the project is very flexible with my situation and wants the best for everyone.
What area? Sounds like a great project.
TheDTs. it will based in the SW out of Plymouth but utilising local and regional trails and centres.
Would hope to be working with some of the private trail centres to utilise facilities.
If we get the right health care professionals, target groups and equipment it could be really special!
