Anyone know which brands offer mens size 6 or 6.5 trail shoes that don't go too pointy at the end?

Currently have some Decathlon shoes which are the perfect shape, but a pain to get to their stores. Ordering online takes ages.

Hoka and New Balance both do half sizes. New Balance are true to size (I wear 9 1/2), Hoka you'd probably need to go half a size up. Don't know about other brands, those are just the 2 I use.

I have a wide forefoot and my Saucony are alright for me.

I wear Nike and have a wide forefoot and a slim heel. They fit fine.

Altra fit my duck-shaped feet well, but they fit a-bit-smaller-than-the-size-suggests.

I generally recommend Innov8, but I think that they would fall into your definition of pointy. The standard fit is great for me (I have many pairs of their shoes for gym, running and trail), but it is not for everyone.

They look perfect but can't find them in a 6 or 6.5

Inov-8 do a wide range of shoes - some are pointy toes and others are wider. I use Parkclaw if I'm running on light trails but if I need more grip for mud then I wear Altra's as these have the widest toe box that I can find. Hoka One One also have a nice roomy fit.

Altra have them in a US 7 on their website, i like my lone peaks but i reckon i got a half size to small as i keep wearing out socks at my big toe.

Some of teh female colours are good

Definately worth trying the size 7 Altras - I generally wear size 43 or 44 EU in most manufacturers shoes, but size 45 Altras.

Topo do a wide toe box, the wife swears by them. Not sure what the sizing is like though and they don't seem to be discounted very much either so expect to pay top whack.

Topo and Altra look the perfect shape. Their size 7 is too long though, going by their size charts. For that shape I'd need a size 6. I usually have to size up to 6.5 for a slightly curved end. Pointy shoes I'd have no chance unless I go for an 8 but they'll be way too long.

On a side note, if Altra or Topo ever make an SPD shoe the same shape as their running shoes at a size 6, I'll be buying several pairs in one go. Proper foot shaped shoes at last!

For running, Nike might be the best compromise of not too narrow and not too long. Buy still not ideal.

Just looked at Saucony and they much too pointy at the end; I'd have to get the too long to fit

MrsMcf suggests Brooks. They apparently do a wide fit. The cascadia 16 seems the widest but perhaps too pointy

This might seem a bit like teaching you to suck eggs but have you tried measuring your feet in mm and checking out their size charts. I did that as I was always a 10 /10.5 turned out I was always buying shoes a size too big to get the width. You may find that their uk sizing doesn't tie in with the mm sizing (all brands seem to measure differently)

Yes. The problem is my big toe doesn't bend into the rest of the other toes. So I can't wear pointy shaped shoes. The widest part of my foot is not at the knuckle of the toes, but at the end of the toe nail. Like a ducks foot. Altra and Topo are like Crocks which are perfect but start a size too big.

My feet look like the right hand photo here.

Topo are great. Roomy at the forefoot but slim in the heel. Wide but snug, whereas Altra felt too roomy - no support.

I have never had shoes that feel too roomy. Ever. Not even close. I envy you.

Are Walsh still a thing? I have huge square feet and I used to use these. Awesome on the muck, shiter than shite on the road.

Looking on Atras site, their size guide starts at US 8 (so UK 7) but when I select a shoe I can choose a size 7. I'm assuming that's a US 7?

Altra mens shoes seem to start from UK 7, but the womens go smaller and are the same shoes and come in neutral colours. I'm currently using Altra lone peaks, can confirm the toe box is the least pointy shoe going.

https://www.sportsshoes.com/products/altra/womens/?l=36

Inov8 rate all their shoes 1 - 5 for fit with 5 being the widest/roomiest. They don't necessarily do each shoe in different fits and some shops don't even list the fitting number so really confusing. I've got wide feet and found the Parclaw (fit 5) was really good although not very durable.

Brooks for my spreading feet.

one thing i found with my Altras at first was that my toes were always cramped and bent under and my two smallest toes were always sore on the tip and top. When i got back from my first run it felt like they had been stretched and teh underside of my toes felt a bit tender, a slight odd sensation feeling my toes worked the way they're meant to.

Altra fit me but I’ve not yet bought
A US pal rates the https://www.sportsshoes.com/product/alt224/altra-lone-peak-all-wthr-mid-trail-running-shoes-~-aw21/?_cur=1&utm_campaign=uk-unpaid-shopping&utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_content=Lone+Peak+All+WTHR+Mid+Trail+Running+Shoes&utm_term=URLrefresh&gclid=CjwKCAjw2bmLBhBREiwAZ6ugo3EfxB4NMJZ1RAsOxu4-qu42kotspMx7RVRbj8_z0zMcSAGhbPwNpRoCHxkQAvD_BwE#sku-alt224

As a bike shoe. The sole is a bit thick for my liking tho.
How about Vivobarefoot Primus Trail ii?
Mine are excellent and proper “foot shaped”. 100 day wear and return if you don’t like is great way of finding out.

Have a look at “correct toes” site for wide foot compatible shoes. Many are available in uk but not all.
This lady has tons of listings too

SPD:
I sometimes use clips - Earlier Shimano AM7 (SPD) have a wide toe and are quite straight inner edge (don’t push the big toe across). I size up a little, wear wool socks (or sealskinz) and my toes are happy. Compatible with Crank Bros Mallet DH too. By far the best mtb SPD pedals.

Brooks are far too narrow for me. I wouldn't be able to get my toes in the end.

I'll look for a retailer that stocks Altras or Topo so I can try them.

Vivobarefoot, Xeroshoes, Joe Nimble and Freet all make foot shaped trail running shoes.

They're all minimalist "barefoot" shoes. I'm after something with more cushioning for rough ground.

Another option might be to find out who makes Decathlons shoes. The shape fit me, just want a different brant that I can get hold of a little easier.

The Decathlon shoes are stocked with Asics Fujitrabuco and Salomons. I don't get on with Salomons, and trying on the Decathlon and Asics side by side, they feel identical to me.

I want to like the Decathlons (bought two pairs) but they're a smidge too wide and move around on the forefoot, so feedback's crap on techy descents, and it also causes blisters on the edge of my big toes.

Haven't run in the UK for a couple of years, but for here I found the Nike range work fine for most of my running (last season's colours=Decathlon price). Pegasus for when there's a few km of gravel or concrete track, Wildhorse for general hooning, Terrakiger for races.
Some X Talons take care of the muddy runs.

That's really strange.
I have a pair of decathlon trail shoes that I love as the grip is phenomenal, they're a great mud shoe. But, to my feet, they are narrow too and so I can't use them for long runs.

Joe Nimble do have cushioning if you think you need it.

It's down to the shape of the shoe. My big toe goes straight and slightly outwards so the shoe needs to have a straight shape on that side, rather than going pointy. Though my tors are still about 2.5cm from the end of the shoe. Sometimes even wide specific shoes that go pointy are too narrow at the end for me. Then too wide at the rest of the shoe. Think ducks feet.

I second what @tomd said: take a look at Inov8's and their various widths, I tend to get the width size for a particular model off the Inov8 website when shopping around. I'm a size 6, and have a clear 1-2mm gap between my toes, so although 'normal' foot shape, really, really wide 🙂

Tried on shoes today. Altra and Topo were the only brands that fit without going too long.

The Topo was a little narrow on the knuckle of my little toe with my big toe 2cm from the end so couldn't really go up another size.

The Altra fit better but the 0 drop felt a bit odd. Also read lots of reviews saying Altras don't last long.

Tempted by the Topo if they losen up a little. Anyone have any experience with them?

I'm on my first pair of Altras, the zero drop definitely took a month to get used to but was worth it. Durability wise seem fine, I'm a serial shoe wrecker and these so far have outlasted the Inov8s and Salomon's that came before them.

My next pair of shoes will be Altra
