At least he seems to give a shit about what he is/was trying to achieve.

Stoicism is overrated.

That's how I picture some of the heavy weight battle legends on here jsut before they invoke certain geographical defences.

I can't decide where I stand with stuff like this. Sure, I'd be "annoyed" too, but a little dignity from an international athlete wouldn't go amiss 😆

He has no idea how to lose with dignity and grace.

Clearly not British. 😉

Sharki will tell you about me lobbing my toys in't Quantocks. 😳

And I am British, so shut up.

Nowt wrong with a bit of passion. This is why we Brits tend not to do so well at stuff; we'd rather lose gracefully than win at all costs, then blame the sneaky foreigners for our own downfall. Which is why we love the footy team, Tim and Andy, the cricket team etc.

bit dissappointing really i extpected him smashing his oar against one of those concrete blocks, more hissy fits then realising he had to make it back to dock/pier whatever without a paddle and sheepihly hand paddlinghis way out. 🙂

passion is good but mtfu and smash something* for a proper strop.

*as long is it's your thing.

I reckon screwing up his run wasn't the reason for the strop.

He just realised he'd pwned himself arguing on stw and he's outside the 15m edit deadline.

Mmm, not sure comparing with Tim and Andy makes a very good point. The likes of Federer and Sampras who have dominated tennis for years (until now) are soul-less robots compared to the UK chaps. The footie team are just a bit pants 😆

I bet he'll get a medal at the olympics after that, if he's that upset at a warm up event then he's bound to up the commitment level in teh next few months...

Just been going through some video posts I've favourited from work cos I can't see them there.

I reckon it's just a bit of theatrics to show the selectors how much he cares. If there's still some a chance he might still squeeze in on a "failed, but do we give him a wildcard shot for the next round?" ticket, he might have thought a massive strop might do him more favours than a shrug and a float to the end.

Problem is, he's got quite a lot of time to fill with histrionics. Which he then extended by pulling out into quiet water. Only time will tell whether this tactic goes in his favour. Did his strop contain enough variety to justify electing to take the extra time?

We shall see, but I have to say that my favourite segment of the routine was the arms up high/now you see me, now you don't part towards the end. 9.2 for comedic interpretation.

If I behaved like that (and I try, on a regular basis...), I would have smacked the kayak with the paddle, holed the kayak, sunk and when resuscitated needed carbon paddle splinters removed from my leg/eye/hand.
