I've had an old, trusty blue towel for about 10 years now. When I bath or shower it absorbs the water to make me nice and dry..Old Blue matched our bathroom....

We've now moved into our new house and the bathrooms have a brown, tiled theme (very nice it is too) so my wife decided that Old Blue wouldn't match any more so went out and bought some new towels and disposed of Old Blue without telling me.

New towels look very nice and match the bathrooms well (I'm colour blind so have to believe her) but it feels like I'm trying to dry myself with clingfilm, ie not drying myself at all as the towel just moves the water around.

Yes, it's been washed several times but I'd be better off running around the garden, naked to dry quicker...

How long does it take for a towel to actually do what it's supposed to do?

I miss Old Blue 🙁

Stop using fabric conditioner on your towels 🙂

I have no tumble dryer, but I read on't web (as this concerned me greatly) that you just shake them hard before hanging on the line and it shakes the nap(?) out so they're nice n fluffy. Seems to work.

Asda do really good towels btw! My Asda towels are nicer than my John Lewis towels. This will make STWers sob in dismay.

Clearly didn't know where his towel was. A hoopy frood always knows where their towel is.

I feel your pain.

What is the obsession with luxry super-thick towels that weigh so much and dry so little? I have my trusty thin, almost threadbare, towel that noone else in the house want to use but it does a perfect job of absorbing water off my body.
I have found generally that the smartprice/value type ones are much lighter and work far better than the thick so-called luxury ones.

Yeah, get a nice thin towel that will age fast and get back the hard-scratchy-get-you-dry feel. The really cheap beach ones are best. I have a Snoopy diving one.

Hmm, well that's weird...

Got in from work today and there's a package addressed to me, inside....an old blue towel...😆

Anyone want to own up to it? 🤔

I recently bought a bath ‘sheet’ from the slightly posher Tesco range, it’s HUGE, fluffy and absorbing

Mine is black, like my soul 😈

Old beach towels with crap drawings on them are my favourites. They are just so much better at getting you dry. My favourite is an ancient one with a picture of a cat on a jet ski. Mrs F keeps trying to throw it away though

My missus attempted to phase in a white towel only policy. The racist. Imagine my horror.

I was right down Dunelm for some grey fluffy bathsheets. 🙂

We got some half priced towels in Sainsburys last year. They're great!

This thread is a STW low point.

I'm sat at work having discharged my domestic duties for the morning, staring out the window at the cloudless blue sky thinking I need to get out on the bike. Click on STW and this...

I have also been victim to towel apartheid.

You star. I particularly like the leopard-skin swimming trunks.

I like to think the shorts are a tribute to his species heritage. The duck should be wearing sunscreen as he’s well on his way to becoming intimately acquainted with a bottle of Hoi Sin sauce 😕
