FFS why can the police not tow the knobbers who park their cars in the middle of the road because a bit of snow is there where they would normally park.
They should be getting out of their cars and digging a space out for themselves rather than acting like complete twunts and parking in the road, blocking the route in one direction.

Why are the police not doing anythign? It's blocking the public highway, it should be moved, the other cars in the road have managed to squeeze onto the snow or dig themselbes a space.

AND on the way to work today there was about 100m of cars zigaged across both sides of the road. It's so bad over the otherside of the hill that hte police had to close the road off to cars due to this and two cars not giving way to each other and ending up with a tail back behind both of them (in rUral durham)

Somebody somewhere needs to do their job and get these cars movced.

When I lived in Montreal, if you parked where the snow plow was going to go, you were towed and dumped somewhere lcoally.

use a fire engine to smash everyone out the way 😈 same should be done for people who park in disabled spaces

They wouldn't be so pushed if they moved the cars though and stopped people charging at each other and having head on collisions and/or accelerating to clear the gap before the next lot of cars come through.

I hope the double parkers catch herpes whilst sweating profusely

That seems a bit harsh - is the fact they are in a wheelchair not punishment enough?

Quirrel

I agree but don't see what the police can do as most of these cars are not technically illegally parked. I'm in 'rural Durham' too but would very much like to see the bell-ends who park on corners, which is illegal, towed away as there is no way an emergency ambulance/fire engine can access many of the back streets or even ordinary non-main roads.

It makes for a bloody long and dangerous carry with some patients when you have to park on main roads, which also, unfortunately, often means that you are blocking the entire road due to the 'legal' car dumpers 👿

It would probably be easier just to grit the roads.

.

Way too much snow up here for that to be practical. I've just come off a series of nights and the gritters have been out all the time and have done a very good job on the main routes.

Parking is not difficult, it just takes a little consideration and effort

Much of the traffic chaos on my route to work today was due to cars parked out on the main road turning it effectively into a singletrack road (and a slalom one at that) in places. Despite the roads actually being clear of snow this morning my commute took nearly 3 times as long. Ok some of them might have had little choice if the snow made their streets impassible while they were out, but there was no reason they could have been moved at the weekend.

use the snow ploughs on the gritters to barge them out of the way, then cover them in snow to hide the dents, so easy an overpaid council w*rker hasnt thought of it yet.

Some of the ones near me look like they'd more or less been sealed in by the snow ploughs.

Tough. They should have moved them.

People seem completely unaware that snow can be moved by means of a shovel. Last year people dithered about like headless chickens on our road til I showed them how to move snow by digging; after that some of them started to help. Except that by the time I got home from work it all turned to ice anyway and was a lot harder to shift.

GET A BLOODY SHOVEL!

Knbbers around here have been doing it too. all our estate is parked out on the main road purely because people cant be bothered to clear their driveway/parking spot.

Especially kill the ones who leave their car on a road where you have to get out of icey ruts to get around them.

inconsiderate and dangerous, when you need more space and normality it is taken by these muppets.

Police found time last year to 'leaflet' the cars off my estate blocking the main road, illegally parked on corners with (visible) double yellow lines. People knew they shouldn't have parked there, it just saved them walking so far. Should have ticketed the lot of them, selfish idiots. One of my cars stayed on the drive last year whilst the one that worked in the snow got used a lot more despite the extra inconvience.

What's the point having road rules if you don't enforce them, particularly when they're really needed when conditions are bad.
