What's the choice on the street at the moment for tough cases for iPhone 5S, already got a scratched screen after 3 months so want built in screen protector and ideally splashproof etc.
I don't really want to add toooooooo much bulk, can live with a little but not a massive bulky thing
Oh and don't suggest a zip lock bag thanks, that's how the screen got marked in the first place, well not the bag but you know what i mean.......
lifeproof or lifeedge
lifeedge are a UK company. I'm waiting for them to come out with a iphone6 version
I've had a Lifeproof on my 5S from day one. It's withstood drops in the sea, drops in the bath, drops onto concrete, etc. Only thing that beat it was my teething 1yo chewing through the seal. Hmph.
Had a Lifeproof on my 4S before that, and that went the distance too.

contact lifeproof warranty dept. they gave me a free case after I damaged one of the lower seals by being a muppet.
Spigen Tough Armor is my favourite
Lifeproof here - wont be changing anytime soon (5-5S not the case)
Another Lifeproof here. Survived a 40degree wash and being dropped 5m.

No screen protector though ?
Which Lifeproof models are you all doing for ? The normal one with screen protector I guess ?
Lifeproof Fr? here on iPhone 5c.
Had it down to 5m underwater. On all manner of filthy wet rides and been dropped more times than I can count.
Protected phone perfectly for 12 months. Hopefully it'll do at least another 12.
Order from lifeproof as there are lots of fakes online.
Had a trudge around Harrods today with Mrs B, seen one a £65K 😯 I reckon at that price you'll never drop it.
You sporting His and hers versions at that price then bruneep.
Nah! promised her one once I get my gold plated pension tho...
Lifeproof Fre = screen protector
Lifeproof Nuud = no screen protector (it seals around the screen edges) but is a bit fatter for it.
Both have the annoyances of a very tight power cable opening (so the Apple cable is about the only one that will fit) and needing to unscrew a thing to get the headphone jack - which again is so tight it's either Apple 'phones or a third-party one with a very thin connector, else using the screw-in adaptor. I use a little Sony bluetooth audio thing (a tiny box that you plug your headphones into) which avoids that hassle and stops me snagging headphone cables all the time.
The Fre for the iPhone 6 is <£40 on Amazon at the moment btw.

And probably fake.
Sony xperia z3? 😉
I've a fre for a 5s for sale if you want. £20?, cost £70. Drop me a mail.
Groupon doing deal on armoured iphone case today
And probably fake.
You do need to be careful with the dodgy 3rd party sellers, but this was direct from Amazon.

Errr??? Excuse me but who ties your shoe laces?
Theres a reason there is a screw in adapter for the headphones - it's a WATERPROOF CASE!
Did you notice the small yellow o-ring? Yup - keeps the water out....
Also WHY would a manufacturer make something to fit a million others when the OE manufacturers cable exceeds any others out there - every single aftermarket cable I've used has failed - the 4 Apple ones are still going without a hitch.
Oh - and as an aside - the power port WILL allow every cable I've tried to fit even the massive heavy duty Belkin car one with ease.
Yes, I understand the need for it but it doesn't stop it being a daily annoyance. I just want something that protects it in a damp jersey pocket, not go swimming with it.
Maybe the power port is different in older ones but with the case for the 6 it's really tight. I have an Anker cable that is almost as slim as the Apple one but still won't quite fit.
IMO just a slim rubber case to protect the corners and a plastic bag are all you should need.
Given that you can replace the screen for about £50, spending £70 on the Lifeproof thing that is actually quite chunky is daft.
I bought the Lifeproof case and think its expensive for what it is, and only use it occassionally. I think that the occasional use is taking its toll on the rubber seals so not sure how waterproof it is now.
Yeah, i wouldn't buy another one. But for peace of mind when out in all conditions it was ideal. There's other damage that can happen, not just a broken screen, plus i assume that a non Apple repair price?
I don't think that my 4s has been out of a Lifeproof case for more than a couple of hours since I got it. Only opened it a handful of times though, so seals are still good.
It handles everything thrown at it. Daily commutes on the bike, swimming on holiday, clumsy owner dropping it, etc.
£70 for a case to protect a nearly £700 piece of kit is a no brainer.
I have the handlebar mount too which works well.
Yes the hardware maybe £700 retail, but as it ages you get places / people that can do pretty much any repair for under a ton.
Seems silly to have a really fancy bit of kit that you wrap up in a chunky, ugly plastic and rubber case that is only really needed for 5% of the time its used.
For me the advantages don't outweigh the disadvantages and the risks are marginal.

Spending all that money and not using it is even dafter.
Continuing to use something you don't like, just because you spend money on it is even dafter.
Still cheaper than insurance
