With most of the country covered in snow, a mate and I started talking about riding our bikes in snow and he mentioned ski-bikes and how we could adapt our bikes for snow. I didn't know what ski-bikes were, so a quick Google search and I came across Nism Ski Bikes
This look like great fun but you need a custom rig 🙁
If you could bolt-on a ski kit to your existing mountain bike (and assuming a not ridiculous price) do you think there would be much interest from mountain bikers in UK and mainland Europe?
My father made one of those out of a Raleigh Chopper when I was just a nipper. It was ok for a wee while but a pain getting it back uphill and the snow had to be just "perfect" for it to work at all. Too soft and it just bogged down, too hard and you'd no control.
No.
Bad idea
Went sledging at Rivi the other week and a bloke had made one from an old Carrera full sus frame, two ski's and stunt pegs through the bottom bracket. All cheap kit off ebay. Looked like fun.
*bump
Made one myself out of an old BMX, skate board and bit of plastic when I was about 15 (so ages ago). Was great fun! Wouldn't spend money on one though. Also reckon a BMX is the best donor bike as it's short enough to put a foot on the back ski and steer from there. Front ski alone doesn't work very well for turning.
Assuming you live in Essex, then no.
I suspect a novelty item for wide blue runs with good snow
I speculate of course
Makes bladers look like they have some credibility.
