So our prime minister thinks it's ok to come out in defence of a boorish racist who assaulted someone because they didn't get their dinner when they wanted it.

He currently has 650,000 reasons and rising...

Richard Littlejohn hits the nail on the head.

Aftr reading it, I don't agree.

James May is equally as right wing as JC, have a read of his Telegraph columns.
No one dislikes him.

No one dislikes Clarkson because he's right wing.
Perhaps they dislike him because he's a tasteless, thoughtless, arrogant, egotistical bore?

I imagine that May at least makes a passing effort in meetings to disguise his distaste for BBC management, whereas Clarkson feels no such obligation.

Interesting, if you look at BARB figures, top gear is not only BBC2's biggest programme by a long chalk, but bigger than anything ITV have except coronation street!

"I don't know exactly what happened. He is a constituent of mine, he is a friend of mine, he is a huge talent. I see that he said he regrets some of what happened. All I would say, because he is a talent and he does amuse and entertain so many people, including my children who'll be heartbroken if Top Gear is taken off air, I hope this can be sorted out because it is a great programme and he is a great talent."

he said defending the boorish buffoon censored for racism who has just punched his boss.

Hmmm. It's like when you take issue with intolerant people, and their best comeback is to call you intolerant for not tolerating their intolerance. Me - not a 'hater', more of a yawner on that one - but I did find this funny, and one of the things I like about that sketch is the accuracy re the TG 'formula'.

I can't quite figure out why they keep referring to TG as a 'factual' programme !!? It's light entertainment sherly.

So did we actually get any real info yet or are we still at the stage where people who like top gear think that punching someone is okay and people who hate it think it should be pulled off air and Clarkson fired without much evidence?

FWIW if there was an allegation that someone at work had punched someone else, the puncher would be suspended while we got to the bottom of things. So far the only fact we know seems to indicate that the BBC are acting responsibly from an HR point of view but that's not to say pulling the whole show makes sense.

Of all the most offended by JC I'm surprised it's not Motorcycle News leading the charge, after all they are currently fighting Israel for the (feel) most persecuted of the decade trophy and JC doesn't really bother say much nice about the leather weirdos.

It used to be factual. In the last 5years its become increasingly slapstick.

As they said themselves - shades of Last of the Summer wine.

Loved watching Plato talk about the balance of a car, how it behaved etc as he was driving it quickly.

Thats factual. Sadly Fifth Gear suffered from C5'ism.

Thats its downfall. When they had the two blokes sat in a studio on a comfy settee chatting it was cringeworthy.

For a car show to become massive it needs viewing audience which equals making a show more than just cars, broaden its appeal.

5th Gear and Top Gear cannot be compared, they are two very different programmes. I have no idea why the discussion keeps coming back around to this.

Precisely, and what do you think the beeb would prefer; a staid car show only tolerable by hardcore car enthusiasts or ££££££££££££££££££?
Yes, popularity is always a good indication of quality.

Yeah because fifth gear was amazing quality. Hang on....

Yup Malvern that joke has been done too.

Then I missed it, apologies. But I thought about what you said - and suggest that in order to be judged as 'repetitive' on any kind of objective scale (if TG fans may be called upon to be truly objective) then surely the same joke would have to be aired on prime time national television. At least weekly. For decades. With not one guy telling it but three, or four at once, laughing at the same old forced joke amongst themselves. Together. Forever. The End?

Fast comeback.

Oh it sometimes takes me an hour to remember that I mistakenly put my mug of coffee in the fridge 😛

It is. Youtube for the win on that scoring system. Quite convinced that only censorship prevents videos with arses and cups or machetes or men raping kangaroos getting top billing every day all of the time. S****ing at gypsies, homosexuals other races and the homeless is the softest of soft porn. This is the BBC after all, they have a lot of catching up to do. Softly softly, catchee ratings.

Anyone else see CH4 news?
I didn't, I'm afraid, but I do so hope they covered some actual news.

The BBC are aiming to generate every single bit of news themselves. That's how important they think they are to the world.

At some point the whole 30 minutes will be filled by: BBC presenter punches someone; old BBC presenter prosecuted for something nasty involving sex and/or money; an update on which pervy BBC presenters from the 70s are being prosecuted this week; Cameron not agreeing to do a BBC debate; BBC office moving to a different city; BBC making (or not) a profit; weather; the BBC news in your area which exactly mirrors the preceding 'news'.

Granted its yahoo.

https://uk.tv.yahoo.com/jeremy-clarkson-says-he-expects-to-be-sacked--very-soon--%E2%80%93-daily-tv-round-up-101523982.html

According to Channel 4, Clarkson had kept a helicopter and its crew waiting for three hours while he sat in a pub.

The helicopter was set to take them to their next location, arriving back at the hotel for 8pm.

But kitchen staff at the hotel cancelled the planned dinner service, because the TV crew were then two hours late in returning.

Clarkson is a ****.

Many a true word...

(Thinks) That Hopkins thing must be short on oxygen/livid about now. The spotlight is most definitely favouring a redder, greyer complexion in these times.

JC and her should join forces - imagine her leathered womb and his nicotine-riddled monkey's bunk might then sire an army of small, winged, s****ing fauxvinistic petrol-drinking Jim Davidson clones - thereby saving light entertainment once and for all from the humourless commies, Johnny Foreigner and The Gay.

Imagine the apoplexy from the PC crowd. I predict a short bawling meltdown on social media before they all drive their (French) cars off cliffs in droves. England will not be cowed into submission!

So hang on. What they're now suggesting is that Clarkson made himself late for dinner then complained about it? If that's true, that's spectacularly ****ty, even for him.

I can't quite figure out why they keep referring to TG as a 'factual' programme !!? It's light entertainment sherly.

As part of their broadcast licence they have to show a certain amount of factual stuff (as opposed to Drama etc).

But that factual stuff can be anything from a documentary on the history of the glue on stamps on BBC4, to The Only Way is Essex. Which is why the latter (and Made in Chelsea, and Housewives of Cheshire, and Jordie Shore, etc) exist, they fulfill the criteria of being factual, whilst getting viewing figures on a par with the soaps.

Change.org "re-instate" petition heading for 750,000 signatures

Frankly none of this would be that big news if he didn't work for the BBC with its "state/public" funding. Perhaps it is time for him to run his own production company and sell the programme to the highest bidder

Any guests on TG that'd make a good presenter? (bar Chris Evans/JK)

JC works as he is offensive and always has been. In the days of Performance car mag (back in the 90's) I loved his monthly back page column. He was different to the other motor journo's.

The problem is hes been doing it too long. Hes become offensive purely for the sake of it. Hes bored.

At the risk of repeating the bleeding obvious from the haterz camp:

I hope they sack the bigoted, racist old man.
He's guilty, like Farage, of making soft racism and bigotry seem ok.
He appeals to scared little englanders because they like to hide their bigotry by revelling in being "politically incorrect".

Had a bizarre discussion with a couple of 'blokes' at a clients premises, they hailed him as some kind of subversive and outsider railling against the status quo - they were clueless that he was friends with CMD and the Ginger Witch and very much an insider with some less pleasant circles. His only redeeming feature is he punched Piers Morgan.

I agree with Hora JC was a good read in the 90s and top gear definately did have a renaissance period years ago but seems to need to be retired as the jokes just seem to be tired....

It's a aged a bit like 'watch your language' and 'love the neighbour' 🙁

TBH I also don't think anyone of a certain age is also going to have the same racism/bigitory viewpoint/level as someone 10-20 years younger tbh the world changes pretty quick but people dont.

Tellys all an act anyway...... No telling real from fantasy 🙂
