Is it that hard to just write the name?
Former Friends star Matt LeBlanc is be one of the new presenters of Top Gear when the motoring programme returns to BBC Two in May.
No Sabine? We want Sabine!
Well, that'll be a laugh.
I liked his character in Actors, hope he does that one and not the stupid one in Friends.
Be alwright I reckons.
But then how can the show take the pi55 out of the Germans and Americans - or is that old school, and this new version will be all politically correct ?
No Chris Harris then?
Think I'll wait for the new Clarkson/May/Hammond one.
No Fred Harris then? Gutted.
No Keith Harris?
But then how can the show take the pi55 out of the Germans and Americans
and the Mexicans, Irish, Spanish, Japanese, Peugeot Drivers?
It'll be rubbish.
No Rolf Harris?
Calvin Harris?
Not Joe Cocker?
Tony Hart?
I mean nothing can be worse than American Top gear... Can it?
Ken Dodd's Dads Dog?
No Richard Harris then?
Not Joe Cocker?
I have some terrible news for you...
Dammit. I had money on Maurine from Driving School.
I have some terrible news for you
What he's hasn't' gone to other side has he? You know Fifth Gear?
He's not even a real baby kangaroo.
Should have got Alex Roy over from Drive, love his cracked monologues.
Well played captainsasquatch - see what you did there ^^^ 😀
You're not going to like this, well you might, but this blokes also no longer with us..
Orville has gone?!? But he was still in nappies. So Sad...
Maybe as the cars become driverless they should do away with the presenters as well.

It isn't.
Hmm, not sure about this. I like Matt le Blanc in Friends and Actors, but when interviewed he seems about as charismatic as a plank. It'll be interesting to see which way he goes when presenting.
And how would Mr LeBlanc greet the lady pictured above.
I was hoping for Ronnie Pickering:
Who? 😉
Who?
Ronnie Pickering.
I'm hoping for Ronnie in "Star in a reasonably priced car". I think he'll do well providing he stays on his feet.
Ronnie Pickering.
Who?
Please speak up, I'm on the train and can't hear you properly.

I'm in that club. Is disappoint.
Matt's a biker. It'd be nice to see some bikes.

So what you're saying is that when he's doing his job as a professional actor he's very good at it, but when he's not.....he's not. How does this worry you again?
It worries me because I believe presenting and acting require a different set of skills. I can't imagine Chris Evans, Clarkson, May or Hammond being able to act for instance. Happy to be proved wrong, but I'd bet Clarkson would be in the Jeff Goldblum school of [s]typecasting[/s] acting.
"all experienced motoring journalists".
"When Jeremy Clarkson gives you an opinion you can respect it,"
😆
Does this mean we may get to see Jennifer Aniston as a Star in a reasonable priced car?
I'm all up for that.
Was hoping Cheggers was going to get the job though.
Cheggers says stop!
?

Because he's being asked to do something other than act, something that requires personality, and from what I've seen he appears to have a deficit of it.

Hmmm.. if she does do it I'd rather watch "Call the Midwife" 😛
Does that mean no more non-reconstructed mantomimes? Bah.

Uh? Did you never watch Top Gear? I thought it was all a big act.

Yeah, I guess there are no transferable skills between acting and presenting. It's not as if there's any kind of precedent for this type of thing.
😉
Well Top Gear has just made the BBC 1 news at 6pm.... Incl a small promo ad for it..!! 😆
I hope it works out better than that episode of Extras where he does a gameshow...
Anything that makes it different to the tired format that the 3 stooges were turning out in the last couple of years. Yes I still watched it for the odd good bit but they got rarer as time went by.
Think there's still another announcement or 2 to come, Evans will keep the pr machine whirring until the first show airs.
not looking good for a standout programe on bbc so far

Everyone that's never seen Top Gear, please leave the thread.
Why has Jimjam posted pictures of comedians and singers to try and argue that actors can become presenters?
When you are all saying about him in Actors, do you actually mean in Episodes? TBH, thought he was great in that.
Shit, I meant Episodes, not Extras.
1. How many million people are there in the UK?
2. Are those "talent scouts" at BBC so stooopid that they cannot give opportunity to fresh talents?
3. Are British people so short of talent they have to choose Chris Evans?
4. Apparently Chris Evans has a wealth of £60 million and yet BBC still want to give him more?
5. So BBC is trying to do the right thing ya? Give the millionaire more millions please ... how stooopid can you get?
I think a lot of people think Matt LeBlanc will be Joey on Top Gear, but as mentioned above, I've seen him interviewed a few times and he seemed boring and a bit prickly.
Chewkw, I'm not sure what it is that you drink, but can I have a [s]pint [/s] shot?
.....tired format
Can't believe it took eight hours really.
But well done, you win 🙂
amazing chewie wamts the bbc run as a socialist utopia, most odd 😕

Which question(s) do you disagree?
Are you one of those cool dude that smoke weed? 😆

Obvious is obvious innit?
Give millions to millionaires? Crikey ...
Chewie does have a point!
The Americanisms creeping in already - clearly he should have written "tyred format"
I agree with Chewie..........
Chewie does have a point!
That's it. The final twinge of hope I was holding onto that the world hasn't degenerated into total madness, has just walked out and closed the door behind it.

😆 You bow! Then ask for forgiveness with offering ...
It does illustrate how the BBC is just like every commercial broadcaster, get in some big names and hopefully they will sell it - it seems to have lost its confidence in it creativity - the big question is how good will the scripts be - these were written by Clarkson in the past.
mefty - Member
- these were written by Clarkson in the past.
Does that mean BBC have to plagiarise Clarkson?
Or does that mean BBC have to pay for the rights to use Clarkson's ideas or "intellectual property"?
trumps in trouble.

My little lad did one of those in the softplay on Sunday. What was the question?

Yes Sir you are correct, I think I started that off.. I apologise and for my punishment I'll be watching The Claire Balding Show.
😕
I fear that the Beeb and the team may begin to take TG seriously when the whole point of the programme was to take the oiss out of itself and others
Do Americans get irony???
For your punishment you should watch Joey... Not sure it gets worse than that!

It gradually changed into piss-take top gear over many, many years. Evans has already said that he's not planning on continuing the Clarkson era format, so it could even turn back into a show about cars!
