If we’re talking about albums i’m most likely to listen right through i’d say:

Hot Fuse, The Killers.
Californication, Chilli’s.
Going for Gold, Shed Seven.

In terms of those which got the most straight through listens in the years before Spotify playlists:

Innervisions, Stevie Wonder
Wish you Were Here, Pink Floyd
Urban Hymns, The Verve

Plus, obviously...

@yokaiser then, what's the Strangeways tune(s) that forces that selection?

Girlfriend in a Coma, my first Smiths 12" and record. I went from a Hip Hop and metal fan to a lifelong Smiths and indie fan after hearing this track. A Rush and a Push and last Night I Dreamt are sublime side intros and I really liked the production of the album, JM alluded in his bio that he was starting to push his production skills and I despair that it all went south after this album.

Half a World Away and Country Feedback on Out of Time and Mellow Doubt on Grand Prix are the tracks that stand out on the other two but they are all superb.

I have eclectic tastes.

I don't - it's all deep-wonky-antiviral-indie-funk for me.

ah, great song. I was lucky to be in from the start when the sound was a bit more basic but I still always turn that up (same with Everyday is like Sunday, big swelling sound)

My wife HATES the Smiths / Morrissey, but by her admission only for his voice. There are some great cover versions that showcase the songwriting and lyrics and then she has to admit that they are possibly one of the best bands to have ever existed.

Example:

It might be because I was an impressionable 16 year old but mine are all from the first half of 1989

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
Pixies - Doolittle
Spacemen 3 - Playing With Fire

Though TBH, the last one is just for Try a little tenderness, without doubt my favourite song in the world.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar, have a gold star, a pay rise and take the rest of the day off.

That's hard, depends on the mood, todays mood means these are the 3 top three albums i could listen to over and over:

Stone Roses - selt titled
Violent Femmes - Self titled
Rage Against the Machine - self -titled

Seems i like bands that can't be bothered to name albums

If tomorrow i feel relaxed just for 5 minutes, it'll be:

DJ Shadow - Endtroducing
Portishead - Summy
Leftfield - Leftism

(it must be the demographic on here, but can't help wondering why there hasn't been a matt johnson revival.)

On simple number of listens it could be

the the, soul mining
velvet underground, velvets live (or loaded)
bobby dylan, new morning, dag nab it.

barely listen to albums these days, but for this year it would be

anderson paak, malibu
frank ocean, channel orange (still on it. could have said tyler the creator, flower boy)
probably daft punk, probably discovery

Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic
George Michael - Faith
Jennifer Warnes - Famous Blue Raincoat

Like most, give it a few days and the list will likely be wildly different.

The Notwist - Neon Golden
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Sparklehorse - Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot

The first one is very likely to appear in the list whenever I'm asked. The other two may rotate in and out of it more frequently, according to mood.

I look forward to you displaying these tastes... your list a bit mainstream if you ask me 😆

Clearly, you've no idea what "eclectic" means.

Thanks anyway for your generous input.

Actually, I do. I even googled it beforehand to make absolutely sure. 😀 are you sure you didn't mean catholic? 😉
Thanks anyway for your generous input.

Aw, don't be like that, I was just mildly poking fun at you choosing 2 classic genre 'best albums' and claiming eclectic was all. At least I chose In a Silent Way.... 😛

Wandering around Bath today, with the ‘phones in, and one track popped up, reminding me that top of the current list of three is:
Steely Dan Aja
Death Cab For Cutie Transatlanticism
Belly Star/King
I have to put those two together, I cannot choose between them, both just chock-full of great choonz.
And I’m currently pledging their new album, due next year, and got tickets for their Bristol gig in June. Whoop!

As ever with these questions, just three?

Top of the head 'right now' answer...

Nowhere. Ride.
The Holy Bible. Manic Street Preachers.
Repent. Replenish. Repeat. Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip.

The Clash - The Clash
Nick Cave - Live at the Albert Hall
Happy Mondays - Thrills pills and Bellyaches

3 albums is at least 7 albums to short of what is needed.
