Sat here listening to music... (my new Thursday night routine)

Want some inspiration.

Pick 3 favourite albums all from different bands.

Mine would probably be

Oasis- whats the story
Queen - greatest hits 2 (I know this isnt really a proper album but I love it)
Deadmau5 - Random Album Title

Exodus - Bob Marley - the best and most influential album ever ( IMHO)

Random access memories - daft punk Great musicianship throughout and a history of dance music in one album

Thin Lizzy - jailbreak - just for the memories it has for me - sounds somewhat dated nowadays apart from "boys are back" maybe

Hmm this week? I couldn't pick an all time 3, music is very much dependent on my mood. And tbh, I just refuse to do it.

But this week I'll go for, in no particular order:

Johnny Cash, At Folsom prison (Live).

Alex Chilton, High Priest.

Swan lake by the USSR TV and Radio large symphony orchestra (I know I didn't name them, it's awesome though.)

Louder than Bombs? Really? Apart from it being a compilation, as a piece of work it's not even one of the Smiths top 3 albums 😉

I know it's a compilation, but if I'm only allowed 3 with no repeat bands, then I have to take as much of one as possible!

The Black Crowes: Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. Most listened to album in my collection, owned it on cassette, CD and vinyl. Fantastic example of guitar weaving (ask Keef and Woody) and soulful keys by the late great Eddie Harsch.

Portishead.
Sounds like nothing else.

Neil Young: After the Goldrush.
Worth it for Southern Man alone.

Well I'm not sure even I agree with me, but:
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
The Who - Tommy
Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs

Some interesting choices above, some great albums, but many I've not heard of.

Pink Floyd - the final cut

is an interesting choice, whenever I listen to it, I always think it's sub par Floyd, but still really like listening to it - especially at night

Right of the top of the head.....

Strangeways here we come: The Smiths

The first two might not be those bands most esteemed work but have songs that are my favourites so they get the nod.

@yokaiser then, what's the Strangeways tune(s) that forces that selection? There's a couple on there I love but they don't say enough to me about my life and hence just don't make the cut above Hatful as a whole
