Sat here listening to music... (my new Thursday night routine)

Clutch - Blast Tyrant
Dr John and The Meters - In The Right Place
Ugly Duckling - Bang For The Buck

The Cure - Disintegration
Faith no more, Angeldust

Pieces of a Man - Gil Scott-Heron
Rum, Sodomy and the Lash - The Pogues
Buffalo Tom - Let me come over
Sugar - Copper Blue(and Beaster EP recorded at the same time)

Bjork Debut
KLF. The White Room
Tonight it'll be something like:

ABBA - Greatest Hits Vol. 2
Bee Gees - Saturday Night Fever
Blondie - Parallel Lines
(not sure if Carpenters is a band or not... 😀 )
Fresh fruit for rotting veg - DKs
Today is a good day - NMA
Exile on Cold Harbour Lane - Alabama 3
Tomorrows list would be different
Exodus - Bob Marley - the best and most influential album ever ( IMHO)
Random access memories - daft punk Great musicianship throughout and a history of dance music in one album
Thin Lizzy - jailbreak - just for the memories it has for me - sounds somewhat dated nowadays apart from "boys are back" maybe
bizarro - the wedding present
well, today anyway... 😀
Hmm this week? I couldn't pick an all time 3, music is very much dependent on my mood. And tbh, I just refuse to do it.
But this week I'll go for, in no particular order:
Johnny Cash, At Folsom prison (Live).
Alex Chilton, High Priest.
Swan lake by the USSR TV and Radio large symphony orchestra (I know I didn't name them, it's awesome though.)
Cardiacs.. Sing to God
wowzers! 🙂
Rumours- Fleetwood Mac
Greatest Hits (US version?b/w photo)- The Police
The Singles- Feeder (good album, not sure it's in my top3, but too fuzzy to think)
Nothing shocking : Janes addiction
Marquee moon : television
Nowhere: Ride
The Clash The Clash
Joy Division unknown pleasures
Pogues Rum Sodomy and the lash
Like others no way I could have a fixed favourite three so i decided top is defined as
To=today's
P=first letter of band
Pearl Jam Rearview mirror (or Ten if I'm not allowed the "greatest hits")
Paradise Lost - Draconian Times
Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
Leonard Cohen - The Best of Leonard Cohen (1975)
U2 - Unforgettable Fire
The Smiths - Louder Than Bombs
At least, I think so...
Louder than Bombs? Really? Apart from it being a compilation, as a piece of work it's not even one of the Smiths top 3 albums 😉
I know it's a compilation, but if I'm only allowed 3 with no repeat bands, then I have to take as much of one as possible!
Ask me tomorrow and you'll probably get a different answer but today it's...
The Who - Who's Next
REM - Murmur
Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger
Stone Roses Stone Roses
Lou Reed Transformer
AC/DC Powerage.
The The 'Mind Bomb'
Steve Mason 'Boys Outside'
The Breeders 'Last Splash'
The Breeders 'Last Splash'
If the op said 4 albums this one would have made my list!
Off the top of my head
Doves - Lost Souls
Morcheeba - Big Calm
Paul Weller - Stanley Rd
Now thats what i call christmas
Fresh hits 97
Greatest Airguitar volume III

Just a random 3 off the top of the head.
led zep- mothership

purity ring -shrines
The Jam, All Mod Cons
The Who, Quadrophenia
Damon Albarn, Everyday Robots
(today), tho' I've just bought my missus the vinyl of Sinead O'Connor's Lion and the Cobra and damn, that's a powerful debut album
Led Zep 3
Pearl jam -Ten
Manic's - Everything must go, (or Gen terr, close call)
Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger would be in there but I can't listen to any of CC's work at the mo, it breaks my heart.
The Black Crowes: Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. Most listened to album in my collection, owned it on cassette, CD and vinyl. Fantastic example of guitar weaving (ask Keef and Woody) and soulful keys by the late great Eddie Harsch.
Portishead.
Sounds like nothing else.
Neil Young: After the Goldrush.
Worth it for Southern Man alone.
Arvo Part - Kanon Pokajanen
Gillian Welch- Boots No 1
Miles - in a Silent Way
Or what Steve said up there.
I could have those 3 as well
You can have them, I think I've changed my mind already. I forgot Let it Bleed, or Blood on the Tracks or King Creosote....
Done and... Dusted, by the Dust Junkies,
Neon Handshake, by Hell Is For Heroes
First Love, by Emmy The Great
For the next 5 minutes, anyway. But those 3 will always definitely be in the top 500
The The - Soul Mining
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
Belly - Star
I'm certainly going to listen to some of the above...
Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage
Pink Floyd - Echoes
The Clash - London Calling
Christ, I don’t even know where to start!
At the moment, off the top of my head:
Arcade Fire Funeral
Talk Talk It’s My Life
King Crimson Discipline
In half an hour it’ll be completely different.
🙂
Top 3 eponymous debut albums?
Roxy Music.
The Smiths.
Stone Roses.
Well I'm not sure even I agree with me, but:
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
The Who - Tommy
Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs
Some interesting choices above, some great albums, but many I've not heard of.
Pink Floyd - the final cut
is an interesting choice, whenever I listen to it, I always think it's sub par Floyd, but still really like listening to it - especially at night
Depends on my mood, but at the moment I'd go for
Fields of the nephilim - Elizium
Depeche mode - violator
George Michael - listen without prejudice.
I think...
Spiritualized - Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space
NIck Cave and the Bad Seeds - Push The Sky Away
Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love
Forgot about Paul's Boutique. Love it.
Well I'm adding on Electric - The Cult then
The Stone Roses: The Stone Roses
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Orbital: Insides
I like this game. 🙂
Chemical Bros - Surrender
Orbital - if i’m Allowed Work, then Work, otherwise Impact(USA)
Kings of Leon - Aha Shake Heartbreak
I like it just for the chance to go 'shit, that WAS a great album' and go and immediately find my copy.
Tomorrow will be part Breeders, part Portishead 🙂
Right of the top of the head.....
Strangeways here we come: The Smiths
Out of Time: REM
Grand Prix: Teenage Fanclub
The first two might not be those bands most esteemed work but have songs that are my favourites so they get the nod.
I still listen to a lot of new music but these have been my top 3 for decades
Loveless by My Bloody Valentine. Way up in the stratosphere, then a bit further down...
...Sister by Sonic Youth
You're Living All Over Me by Dinosaur Jr.

This week its
Editors - The Weight Of Your Love
The Chameleons - Script Of The Bridge

Three more I couldn’t be without:

Kris Delmhorst Song For A Hurricane
Paul Simon Hearts And Bones
Mr Bungle - Mr Bungle
NWA - Straight Outta Compton
Otis Redding - Complete & Unbelievable: The Otis Redding Dictionary of Soul
Though TBH, the last one is just for Try a little tenderness, without doubt my favourite song in the world.
@yokaiser then, what's the Strangeways tune(s) that forces that selection? There's a couple on there I love but they don't say enough to me about my life and hence just don't make the cut above Hatful as a whole
It's a new day ... 😀
