Me and the spaniel enjoy a bit of exploring round the local area, looking for new bits of path / trail to make the walks more interesting. There are plenty of informal paths that get a bit overgrown and need some maintaining to keep them walkable
There are a couple of paths that I actually go out and strim occassionally with a cordless strimmer, but these are well established paths that no one else bothers maintaining. What I'm thinking of is a couple of hand tools for clear small patches that get overgrown with weeds
A folding saw is obvious for branches and the like and pretty easy to carry, but it would be pretty useless for clearing weeds. Any suggestions, preferably something less scary than a massive bill hook or machete!
I usually carry a folding saw, secateurs and this year have invested in a long handled folding sickle
If you do go for a sickle, be sure to wear a long, black hooded robe while carrying it

Shirley that's a Scythe?
A good stick,
and maybe a small pair of secateurs in your pocket.
