You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So due to a lot of house expenditure coming up the classic car is shelved for at least another 5 years (again) and I'm re arranging the garage for more bike oriented stuff. So it's a one time since I've swung spanners on site and I'm wondering if a pegboard might be an idea.
So real world experiences of them. Really useful or a pain in the bumper?
Secondly I've got a massive array of hex keys in various forms including sockets but the sockets don't really work in tight areas. So I'm looking for some bits and a quality bit driver handle. I'm thinking one of the wera ones. Again any suggestions.
Cheers

Hey!
Yup, I have pegboard in my workshop (it's BOTT for reference, really nice kit)
I'm also a big fan of the Wera Zyclops ratchets but the fact the tend to come in really nice self contained cases means that they tend to live at the back of the bench rather than up on the wall.
cool
those overlays are nice. Always wondered how people got such nice pics of their tools...
I decided to use a single sheet of 8'x4' ply as a backboard to my workbench. Add in some planning, a hammer and some 35mm pins and you can mount all the tools you have on that. It works for me.
Wera make good stuff. Getting a set of their stainless allen keys last year felt like a complete indulgence but they're a pleasure to use.
Pegboard: I once designed and injection molded my own hooks. Will post some photos later, but I've found it wears over time with heavy use. If you have basic woodworking tools and the inclination, IMO it's probably best to make your own tool holders to fit each and screw them up.
+1 for PB swiss hex keys, My father in law is a press too maker and got me a set (same as he uses at work)they bend a good way but always come back straight, they are as strong as hell.
I forgot to take photos before leaving for a few days, but you can see what we made here:

We molded the green ones from shredded milk bottle tops. The white ones were an earlier laser cut experiment (too brittle). The holes in wooden pegboard wear through use then the hooks start to lift out when you take tools off, and that looseness was what annoyed us about commercially available wire hooks in the first place.
That's why I'd make tool holders and mount them on a solid sheet of plywood now, but if you buy a system, I'd definitely go for something that uses steel boards.
