You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
....must have been one of those days. Ok painful face plant last week, but did I really have to ride on the brakes pretty much the whole day today 😳 ? Where was the bottle???
Started on Winterfold for first time in about 6 months. Quite a few changes. Like the route near CP4 (Area 51?).Evian was really good and the changes to the drop seem sensible. Berms at the top great too. So far so good, then a total mince down switchbacks - why??? Even walked the tightest two switchbacks 😳
Ok down the old secret Santa stuff. Then across towards and down Supernova - moderately ok. A quick BKB (fine) and then back up Pitch and a complete bottle out on the route next to Eric? My nerve on anything remotely steep just wasn't there today (ever?) and bloody frustrating to ride down the normal climb back up.
Ok late night, last night and a bit tired today, but need to let the brakes go, let if flow and stop bloody MINCING the steeper stuff!!!
Self flagellation over. Excuse me. Just needed a mini rant.
Sometimes it just doesn't flow.
Who knows why, so don't sweat it, come back another day and shred it 8)
I was like that for a while after crashing. It's the sensible part of your brain taking control 😐
What MaxTorqe said. If Im having an off day ut just doesn't happen. Sometimes turn round and go home if the first sections arent flowing as all that happens is I push harder and almost always crash.
Must be a head thing as it nearly never happens on group rides.
It was definitely a day partly of good trail rides (Evian 3x, Barry etc) and then a lack of bottle on steeper (switchbacks) or looser (near Eric)
When I bottled it on the latter, I just said to myself. You are tired, you are not riding well, go back to car in one piece and come back another day. Frustrating.
It's annoying when you can feel what you are doing wrong but having a day when you can't adjust. Did notice that my tires had too much air in them as a couple of sketchy front wheel moments early on.
Self preservation innit. You not doing it to earn a living, just enjoy the ride for what it is, a great way to spend your free time.

EFA!
Mince away. If I'm not feeling it, I don't do it these days. Too many times have I regretted it. Hitting gap jumps or rough stuff fast when not in the right head/body space is a disaster.
Constant mincing is a different story (well with me anyway)
Part of the rush is being on the edge. Take that away totally and I'd struggle.
Relatively please i managed to get out on my own (i really struggle to get out if im riding alone), but certainly wasnt "on it" today.
Could be a new bike problems, New sized wheels, Wrong tyre pressure, still working out the shock setup and the fork setup, or i could just be useless on a bike.
Still. Rode.
Olly, sounds like we were in the same boat. After posting earlier, went out in garden to practise Fabien's 8s and almost ride over an adder. Thought it was a piece of rope and then realised. It was eating a frog which was weird. Grabbed the dogs and went to get camera, but it had gone by the time I went back. Would have been a cool photo - snakes head with half a frog hanging out
