Having recently found this I am hooked! Just got a bag from M&S last night with about £25 of stuff for just £4 – bunged some in the freezer and having a nice meal out of the rest of it tonight.

So - what's your best Magic Bags ever?

I tried this in Brighton... most of the shops I used seems really unfussed about it, and simply filled a bag with stale old cr@p that should have been thrown out..

Great idea, but the shops kinda need to be told the food MUST be edible!

Oh..one noodle place I went simply served up one dish of noodles, at pretty much the face value of what I paid...not how it's meant to work!

Might give it a go again with bigger retailers..

On the other hand I was vv underwhelmed by mine, small-ish town is maybe not the best place to try it out - staff maybe misunderstood or not educated as to what it's all about.

In bigger towns it makes sense, less so where I am.

Just cut out the middle person and do a dumpster raid at the back of the shops.

Users of the Too Good To Go app can get Magic Bags of surplus stock that is either close to the end of its shelf life or on the final day of its “best before/use by” date. These bags are packaged together at random but the price is a fraction of the full retail value.

I agree with some stuff being a bit rubbish (I had a Morrisons bag and there was just so much bread and pastry stuff in it that couldn't be eaten quickly enough / too big to fit in the freezer). However a colleague got one from there recently and he got a load of really good stuff (chicken, fresh fruit etc).

I had a pret breakfast twice while in Edinburgh recently and it was huge definitely better than paying for breakfast in the hotel

I used Too Good To Go till they changed the way you logged in which annoyed me, I only ever got to sample some slightly stale pastys, all the good places would either sell out quick or do them at silly hours I found.

Got another bag last night - I had some very lovely sushi for lunch that was worth the £4 alone but also gorged on M&S Finest chocolate eclairs last night and have a few bits in the freezer including some very lovely looking dirty fries. Mmmm, hooked.
