There have been so many people in music we’ve lost recently that I’m almost numb to it, on top of my personal loss, but losing Tom is a shock, this is the first I’ve heard about it. I managed to see Television a number of times over the years, the first time when Marquee Moon came out - they played the then Colston Hall, with The Cortinas and Blondie as support! Later I saw them play London, and Bristol again some years back.
Such a loss, such an influential musician. RIP Tom.

Just seen this so Marquee Moon is playing and probably will be for the rest of the night.

Difficult to beat Marquee Moon.

Always loved this footage (and the standout track from adventure). Even bought a Pro II Jazzmaster in sunburst as a result of it!

Also loved his contribution to the Luna Penthouse album…

This one seems to hit closer to home…

Eloquence and technical excellence but importantly also put some snarl back into music

This is the one I feel genuinely sad about, our generation is getting old

On a lighter note, those who who like Tom Verlaine might like the new John Cale album Mercy, a masterpiece from an eighty year old veteran
