If you ever collect a newish hire car (12plate) and stop at B&Q on the way home and purchase two tins of 5L white emulsion, whatever you do ensure the plastic lids are on securely. An emergency stop sees one tin up-end and discards the whole 5L of paint into the foot well. Doh! Luck it was buy one, get one free on the paint!
😯
...although pics or it didn't happen
Did that when I'd first passed my test in my dad's car with a tin of black gloss paint, before that I'd broke a bottle of milk in there too......He wasn't best happy with me,but at least it got rid of the smell of sour milk.....
top tip #2
pay attention at the fuel pumps first thing in the morning, or you'll* spend the rest of the day removing 65 litres of petrol from your diesel landrover 😳
* for legal reasons this may or may not be true...
Oh deary me Stoner 😳
Someone's in trouble and will be spending the night bivvying on a 'Vern. 🙂
Stoner - were you dreaming of nice big red and grey things and wishing.....
someone's redeemed themselves by restocking the chainsaw fuel cans 🙂
fortunately the landy wasnt started so it's still diesel all through the lines and the rest of the low & high pressure systems and all but half a pint of petrol is out of the tank which will get diluted with 20Litres of diesel collected in 5L cans from various forecourts over the rest of the weekend 🙂
I blame lack of coffee.

I do a specialist service for paint removal depending on where you are ?
It's not that expensive (compared to what the car hire company will charge you !) and normally works perfectly (depending on the car/carpet type)
Let me know if you want it sorting ?
Ah coffee, send one over need some inspiration, think I'll find it in the bottom of a cup.....

FYI I've never been hassled for filling my 20L jerry can.

Lots of good advice for fixing that from a few months ago ...

Erm.. How come you can't just fill it up on a forecourt?

you need to dilute any residual petrol in the tank as much as possible before you turn the key. You never really know who much petrol left in there unless you've been able to take the tank off completely, so the more fresh fuel you can get in before you turn it over the better
because I need to dilute the residual pint of petrol with sufficient diesel before it gets drawn into the fuel line - i.e. before I drive it.
Anyway, all seems to be working OK now. 20L of diesel in the tank. Havent run it enough to have the tank fuel make it through the system yet, but since the engine runs so it should be OK.
Phew. Thats saved £240 odd quid - £180 for the tank drain down by the AA and £60 of lost fuel which I can at least use in the chainsaw.
Yeah, i know, but either it is still on the forecourt or was tken off the forecourt without starting the engine. Can it not be taken back to a foreourt the same way and filled with that good diesel?
unless you've been able to take the tank off completely,
true. But I went in with a hose and pump through the sender port on the top so could look into the tank. Only petrol left in was that which I couldnt suck out with the hose.
Ah - see what you mean CM. The AA relayed me the 5 miles home.
In that case, you are excused.
