I've stripped the paper from the hallway and there are lots of areas of cracked and crumbling plaster around door frames and plug sockets. Some are gaps through to the brick, maybe up to 10mm wide.
Would a standard base plaster be suitable to sort these bits? I'd imagine using a soft spatula to fill in the cracks and smooth it right down along the door frame would leave a good finish, but is this the right way of doing it? Any pitfalls?
Thanks
depends on what you are doing with it all after really
multifinish will work, as will any type of filler
just fill it in and smooth off to let it dry
if it is around things that will still move i.e. door frames etc, flexible caulk may be a better shout
I mainly use this as it's 99p a tube at Screwfix

It does shrink a bit and isn't the best I've used, but it's so cheap, I just use several coatings.

if your papering over it then a caulk bodge will be ok .... the next owner will curse the shit out of you though.
If you want any kind of decent lasting finish to paint and your down to brick in places youll be wanting bonding on the brick to bulk it out to the correct depth
If you simply stick multi finish in it will take for ever to dry and shrink like ****.
- been there done that.
There isn't really a lot in the way of exposed brick. More just wee black holes! And crumbly plaster.
