There's a lot of negativity out there today, but we should always look towards the light.

So, what's good about today? I'll start:
I have a wonderful bottle of 2007 Colheita Port to open tonight with great friends.
I'm in charge at parkrun tomorrow and have got a full roster of wonderful volunteers.
My wife, for the first time in about 8 years, is loving her job and her depression seems to be subsiding.

My dark beer and black treacle bacon is ready and I have a sough dough loaf in the oven.

Kegging my first all grain brew today.

Getting my fly fishing kit ready for a meet up tomorrow on the local canal, plus a pub lunch. Never met any of the guys I am fishing with, so be great meeting new people with a common interest. Fishing.

Even if you pooled the UKIP vote it probably wouldn't have won a constituency.

Farage's vanity project got less than 2% of the popular vote.

Finally feel my Arrymthia might be calming down. Time to get back into some work, and at the weekend find out how cycling on beta blockers go (34 year old female, with good BP and 60 resting HR). This feels like a turning point after a pretty rubbish last 2 weeks.

I just got a ticket to see Girl Band next year. Superb.
And the sun is shining and I rode against the wind into work and made it (just).
And Beck's new album is better than I remembered.

Was in there last night.

I'm taking a trip to see some mates that I've not seen for ages tomorrow.
There will be beer and curry. 😁

Today is the last day at work for me in 2019. But downside is no job lined up for 2020 yet! But the positives, kids are at school next week so I have a week to ride without having to do family duties!

I'm going to work from home today as there's nobody here because they all took the day off to watch the election last night
I'll get a wee cake for my daughter on the way home
I can go for a cycle over lunchtime
I've nearly hit my weight goal of losing 4 stone
I'm listening to Aphex Twin

We are doing our annual Christmas bike ride tomorrow. 15 Santa's leaving Stourbridge at about 9 am in the morning passing through kinver over the Severn at arley then into the wyre forest for a play then food and beer in Bewdley.
So if anyone is on the Severn Valley railway you might see a bunch of muddy santas wobbling past the station at arley.

Today is Friday, which is reason enough for it to be a good day but I'm going to have a chip & cheese bap for lunch, because I can. Which makes it even better 🙂

And tomorrow I will finish off my shopping for Mrs.P's birthday present so I can then spend the rest of the time between now & Christmas/her birthday in a warm state of contentment.

My brother-in-law and his family have just arrived from Australia, it's their daughter's 10th birthday today, my girls (also 10 and they all adore each other) are besides themselves with happiness so have baked and decorated a huge Unicorn Birthday Cake for her. And we are all going to the Panto together tomorrow.

Therefore I have declared Christmas officially open at our house so I have opened a bottle of Limoncello that I purchased in Milan last week.

Let's all forget politics until the new year.

Despite my crushing disappointment and disillusionment, it's a lovely day here and the £ to $ exchange is slightly better now; I needed a front caliper for my motorbike and found one in the US for £30 inc. postage and customs duty- winner! And it's dahl for tea tonight- silver lining and all that, what 😁

The headwind forecast for this morning's commute didn't materialise and I had a rather pleasant 28 miles on the bike in great conditions for the time of year. It tipped me over 4600 so only 400 miles to go to hit my target of 5000 for the year.

Because still alive
Because sky=blue
Because this week managed to sell some bits and pieces and then got a deal on some replacement front tyres for the car
Because this means can now make plans to collect unicycle from Lungeton and deliver to Gnusmasville

Many, many paperclips.

Fixed that for you CFH 😉

By the way - the Seiko SNDF57 you recommended to me - the battery finally ran out, that was nearly 7 years ago!

By way of coincidence, mine also ran out last week! Same sort of age. Battery only meant to last three years as well.

Zoe in the office (who deals with all your subs payments, and my wages) got a distinction in an exam she was super nervous about.

I have a few more days before my partner flies home (that will not be a good day).

We're all going to put up the Christmas tree tonight.

I have prosecco in the fridge.

I got up at half 3 yesterday and drove non stop back from Leeds to the South Coast to see my youngest in her last ever nativity play. She didn't know I was coming and had been very disappointed. Made it with 2 minutes to spare. The look on her face!

I found a reasonably large amount of money in a pension fund I from the eighties I had completely forgotten about. Even the probing letter from the company asking if I could say where I used to live triggered no memories as the original company had been bought out.
A fleet of Santa Cruzs await...
Well actually just a new FS of some sort in the sales (Stumpjumper - I'm looking at you!).

Sort of makes up for never being missold PPI.

My youngest is three today. Him and his brother piling into our bed this morning, opening presents turned out to be the perfect antidote to what should have been an thoroughly depressing awakening. All out for tea tonight and Thomas Land tomorrow for his birthday treat.

I’m significantly richer than I was yesterday.

Me too.

Given that most of my constituency are convinced Brexit and the Conservatives are going to make Calderdale a wonderful place to live I have cancelled all my direct debits to local charities I've been supporting.

I personally think that things are going to get much worse so the cash needs to stay with the family.

Only nine days til the nights start drawing OUT!

Even better than that... Sunset will be later tomorrow, than it is today, only 2 seconds, but the Sun has started her slow return to us! The lazy sun rise will be a few weeks yet.

In other news, I've avoid having to deal with our LL who we're not getting on with, by fixing my own Central Heating, it was a COLD night in the Jay household last night.

Due to the collapse of my former employer, I don't have to pay for my R2W bike anymore, it was £3400, I paid £260 for it, it's not real compensation for all the stress, worry and graft, but it's better than a quick hoof in the slats.

But as someone said above, the Sun will still rise tomorrow, the earth continue to turn. My belly is full (more than it should be really) and so are our Children's, we've got a roof over our heads and I'm grateful for that. Even if Boris really is the Devil incarnate he won't change that, as much as he might try.

I am home with my family after two challenging but interesting days working away. I'm bloody exhausted, I'm eating some very tasty leftovers and have a decent cup of tea in front of me.

The weekend starts here.

Sailing is sadly canned due to weather forecast tomorrow so I will be sorting out the crap hole spare bedroom/home office and making it a nicer place to be for odd days working at home and domestic admin. So that should be a result. May even get to the gym but let's not put a dampener on things.

I walked away from the organisation for whom I’ve worked for the last 16 and a bit years, and now have six weeks off (during which time we are moving house from Hampshire to Suffolk, from a 3 bed semi to a 5 bed detached house for the same money) before we start with a brand new job and a brand new life in the countryside - closer to my family, closer to work (and I can cycle commute) and closer to the sea.

Both Labour Party candidates I have canvassed for over the last few weeks were both elected - one was a bit worried about whether he would get elected as there was a strong Tory vote in a number of wards in his constituency. So all those days and nights of getting cold and soaked have been worth it despite the national result. We are now in a little red island with 4 Labour MPs surrounded by a sea of blue!
