We live in a victorian terrace style row, we've lived here for nearly 30 years with the same, now 85 year old, neighbour. Our gardens are open to each other as many were back in the day. Our neighbour has looked after our grennhouse etc in the past and was an avid gardener herself who can now, unfortunately, not look after her own plot. We would like to move in the future for retirement elsewhere. I favour fencing our garden off now, but the boss lady feels moraly as though we should do it at a later date possibly when our neighbour is no longer with us. What's the consensus? Would a property be more likely to sell with or without a dividing fence? Help along with a discussion we're having at the moment. WWSTD?
For me, segregated gardens look much better and give an impression of privacy, I'd probably keep it to about 3 feet picket style thing though, so it doesn't look too boxed in?
Depends on the house(s) really...but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if buying as I could knock my own up if I was that bothered.
I'd probably wait, if only to wait for a super bargain on materials as there's no immediate nessesity?
Like Matty - I’d go waist high picket style fence. Enough to define your space without shutting your neighbour out.
4ft would be my choice. So you can still easily chat to each other face to face but if want to sit in a chair quietly and read your less abvious.

Yeah, maybe not great for growing flowers if the borders are in shade all the time... plus a picket type thing with gaps rather than 6 foot high pannels will let some light through at low level and is less likely to act as a sail, and blow over in the wind!
