Once you hit Rawtenstall, turn right.

DO NOT STOP IN BACUP.

Straight on at Bacup for Tod and the canal, or left for Cliviger and the higher level route over the tops to Hebden via Long Causeway (turn down by the Kettledrum pub).
Longer, more climbing, but unbelievable views.

For progress, I'd take the canal.
Once you climb up and over from Bacup towards Tod, the canal is at the bottom of the descent just before you hit the main road.

And once again, DO NOT STOP IN BACUP. 🙂

+1

TBH I'd avoid having to stop once you've arrived at Waterfoot.

I'm worried that tj has become another victim of the West Yorkshire border reivers

I was wondering if he had a visa for the crossing. He's probably on a plane to rawanda by now.

I think I saw you, have you a Scottish flag on the trailer….grinding up a steep hill just above the Tesco in Sowerby Bridge?

Edit, now seen the photo, yes you do. I nearly did shout out from the bright red Fiat 500, to see if it was you, but thought that might have been a bit, well, weird.

Edit edit, just to clarify, I have no idea what you look like, but I had read you were in this neck of the woods, and just wondered if it was a coincidence it might have been you on your travels.

If you're close to Sowerby Bridge there are some good pubs there and a great curry place called Syhiba

Pity you’re in Selby TJ, got a nice Garlic Chilli Chicken on the go in Boroughbridge.
Doubt if you’ll be in Selby on Monday but Lola’s Garden on Station Rd does awesome breakfasts. Keep up the good work, everyone’s loving your travels!

Junction 48? Yeah, I reckon it would waft 1/2 a mile if the wind’s in the right direction.
Call in next time.

Sorry I missed TJ passing ST Towers. I was busy paddling down the Colorado. It’s not as glamorous as it sounds. You have to pee in the river and poo in a tin that has a vent tab you have to pull before you open it.

Please tell me yours is the smiley hedge house?

Annoyingly I'd turned down beer and a bed in Innerleithen to go home to Mrs brain, only to get home and be greeted by "I think I might have covid so you're sleeping on the spare room"

Is it just me, or has this thread made everyone else just want to get out and start meeting people again?

Yes, but then I'll get out and start meeting people again and they'll make me want to stay home and avoid people again. And I'll blame tj.

Yep.  Seems better now

I'm super curious but in this case pics of the tin aren't necessary

The Ferry will be fine for space just avoid Fridays and maybe Saturdays. Used it a few weeks ago. You are directed to the middle of the car deck, loads of space for (motor) bikes and trailers. You kinda have to accept P&Os employee relations strategy though ..... Still its a glorious way to travel and the cycling paths in the Netherlands were amazing - better than our roads. Top tip follow the cycling diversions in the Netherlands. Usually I would just ignore them in France etc - In the Netherlands if it says no bridge it literally means no bridge....Good Luck great Cake and beer ahead.

You'll need the online planner for Netherlands

Just note the node numbers as a list and cycle between them. Or grab GPS route from the planner.

Wishing you courage today, Julie's aura will help you remember all the time you had together.

I rode down to Carolyn's grave after tea, just sat in peace having good memories.

Only thing was its a 2 mile climb back up to her parents and I was riding a borrowed bike that's too small for me. I was a right sweaty mess 😮

Well I took her home. Walked around the village where she grew up. Saw the cricket ground where she learned to love cricket and scattered some ashes in the woods she played in as a kid.

Back on the road again heading east. Dont think i can make tonights ferry. Ill stop again in a couple of hours and have a ponder.

Ta chaps. Im still bemused by the interest but its a good ego boost1😎😀

Is this the Hull-Rotterdam ferry?  I'm dropping some people off on it tomorrow afternoon for the return journey so I'll try not to run you over on the way up.  You would  spot them because they have 4 very yappy dogs but by then you will be lucky to be a long way away

There's only 1 per day to Rotterdam and another to Zeebrugge. I know's it's Hull but I'm sure they speak some form of English there 😜

No zeebruge passenger option these days is there? Maybe they made him take a freight one though as he's towing a trailer.
