You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Well who’d have thunk it, to be able to navigate successfully you have to look at the map😈
Once you hit Rawtenstall, turn right.
DO NOT STOP IN BACUP.
Straight on at Bacup for Tod and the canal, or left for Cliviger and the higher level route over the tops to Hebden via Long Causeway (turn down by the Kettledrum pub).
Longer, more climbing, but unbelievable views.
For progress, I'd take the canal.
Once you climb up and over from Bacup towards Tod, the canal is at the bottom of the descent just before you hit the main road.
And once again, DO NOT STOP IN BACUP. 🙂
I’m currently sat in an office halfway between Rammy and Hebden
Bacup?
**** OFF!
Rochdale.
DO NOT STOP IN BACUP.
+1
TBH I'd avoid having to stop once you've arrived at Waterfoot.
I stopped here.

Last few miles on a rather nice riverside path on an old railway even a couple of funnels
The cafe in Heptonstall is nice
Is that the place of silvery fame?
Typhus and Sylvia Plath. 🙂
Beautiful place.
Its taken me up the irwell on a muddy footpath
And the Euphemism of the Day Award goes to...
It's all gone very quiet
I'm worried that tj has become another victim of the West Yorkshire border reivers

I was wondering if he had a visa for the crossing. He's probably on a plane to rawanda by now.
Hope he hasn't strayed into Bacup.
Im camped up near sowerby bridge. Lovely days ride .
What is the Bacup thing? People are saying to avoid it, but the energy in the responses kinda of makes me want to visit it...

Lots of this today
I think I saw you, have you a Scottish flag on the trailer….grinding up a steep hill just above the Tesco in Sowerby Bridge?
Edit, now seen the photo, yes you do. I nearly did shout out from the bright red Fiat 500, to see if it was you, but thought that might have been a bit, well, weird.
Edit edit, just to clarify, I have no idea what you look like, but I had read you were in this neck of the woods, and just wondered if it was a coincidence it might have been you on your travels.
That would be me. Red bike red jacket yellow trailer ans a saltire
If you're close to Sowerby Bridge there are some good pubs there and a great curry place called Syhiba
No pubs tonight after last nights shenanigans.
This is thread of the year.
You lovely lot have cheered me up and there's been genuine laughing out loud in bunnyhop/nbt towers.
2nd don't stop in Bacup.
Where next teej?
Fish pie?
Say hello to the big fella from me
'fish'?
And yes, thread of the year. So much good stuff
With postimg is it not possible to use the direct link to the image rather than the embed link for forums. It seems to work better
Yay! Ton!
Innit?
*Waves*
Can you IMAGINE these two out on the lash?
It'll make t'other night seem like a Temperance Hall excuse-me. 🙂
Yay- waves to Ton.
Everybody should ride with Ton at least once in their lives.

Can't wait for tomorrow's photos 🙂
I’m hoping he’s been at the cricket
Ace thread.

Im still recovering😎
Canals and wee roads today. Met the big man and he rode with me for a good few miles today and expertly guided me on a maze of paths. A pint of course. Im now camped up near Shelby I think. Wherever the flip that is🙄
Really wnjoyed riding the canals today and yesterday.
Shurely you mean Selby?
Probably 🙄

Is that better for pics?. Just the one should be showing
Visiting Julies family tomorrow
Pity you’re in Selby TJ, got a nice Garlic Chilli Chicken on the go in Boroughbridge.
Doubt if you’ll be in Selby on Monday but Lola’s Garden on Station Rd does awesome breakfasts. Keep up the good work, everyone’s loving your travels!

Was that yours I could smell as I came off the a1? Smelt bloomin lovely.

Junction 48? Yeah, I reckon it would waft 1/2 a mile if the wind’s in the right direction.
Call in next time.
Sorry I missed TJ passing ST Towers. I was busy paddling down the Colorado. It’s not as glamorous as it sounds. You have to pee in the river and poo in a tin that has a vent tab you have to pull before you open it.
Is it just me, or has this thread made everyone else just want to get out and start meeting people again?
Honestly TJ, I'm sure your Mrs would be so proud of you.
Love to all.
Yeah, I reckon it would waft 1/2 a mile if the wind’s in the right direction.
Call in next time.
Please tell me yours is the smiley hedge house?
Annoyingly I'd turned down beer and a bed in Innerleithen to go home to Mrs brain, only to get home and be greeted by "I think I might have covid so you're sleeping on the spare room"
Is it just me, or has this thread made everyone else just want to get out and start meeting people again?
Yes, but then I'll get out and start meeting people again and they'll make me want to stay home and avoid people again. And I'll blame tj.
More importantly though I'm guessing given you're in Selby you'll be straight over to Hull, after you've met up with Julie's family?
Please tell me yours is the smiley hedge house?
Haha! That’s the world (Boroughbridge) famous Hedgy. He even gets dressed up for special occasions.
We’re further down opposite the garden centre.

So they made you feel right at home?
Hope you enjoyed the Yorkshire hospitality, TJ. Now **** off back to Scotland 🙂
That made I laugh.
Is it just me, or has this thread made everyone else just want to get out and start meeting people again?
No, it's just you. Weirdo.
Is that better for pics?. Just the one should be showing
Yep. Seems better now
You have to pee in the river and poo in a tin that has a vent tab you have to pull before you open it
I'm super curious but in this case pics of the tin aren't necessary
Dangerousbrain. Pretty much straight to hull but i don't know if I'll get thete today. Depends how long i spend with julies family
Im also not booked on a ferry either. Dont know if there is space on one
The Ferry will be fine for space just avoid Fridays and maybe Saturdays. Used it a few weeks ago. You are directed to the middle of the car deck, loads of space for (motor) bikes and trailers. You kinda have to accept P&Os employee relations strategy though ..... Still its a glorious way to travel and the cycling paths in the Netherlands were amazing - better than our roads. Top tip follow the cycling diversions in the Netherlands. Usually I would just ignore them in France etc - In the Netherlands if it says no bridge it literally means no bridge....Good Luck great Cake and beer ahead.
I think Hannah crapping in a bucket deserves a thread of its own, on a forum that I am not a member of.
#grim
I'm going to julies childhood house this morning and some of her childhood favourite places. Gonna scatter some ashes. Its right she comes home to Yorkshire but i feel very emotional. Wish me luck
Good luck and, so well as you can with these things, enjoy it for what it is Tj
Have a good day TJ. Its bound to be an emotional day, but its a celebration of her life
You'll need the online planner for Netherlands
Just note the node numbers as a list and cycle between them. Or grab GPS route from the planner.
Good luck TJ.
Enjoy the day and remember the good times. Take care.

STW is missing a subscription tier, all I got offered was a bag of coffee.
All the best TJ mate.

You have to pee in the river and poo in a tin
Please tell me it has a picture of a certain Vladimir on it.
Loving this thread TJ. I think we are all living through you a.t.m. All the best for today!
think we are all living through you a.t.m.
Thats why its always uphill into a headwind and rain 🙄🤣
Bunch of comedians
I think that's a genuinely lovely thing to do, TJ. Enjoy it in a weird way, and Well Done all round on the trip.
This thread def needs a thumbs-up button.
Wishing you courage today, Julie's aura will help you remember all the time you had together.
I rode down to Carolyn's grave after tea, just sat in peace having good memories.
Only thing was its a 2 mile climb back up to her parents and I was riding a borrowed bike that's too small for me. I was a right sweaty mess 😮
Well I took her home. Walked around the village where she grew up. Saw the cricket ground where she learned to love cricket and scattered some ashes in the woods she played in as a kid.
Back on the road again heading east. Dont think i can make tonights ferry. Ill stop again in a couple of hours and have a ponder.
Ta chaps. Im still bemused by the interest but its a good ego boost1😎😀
👍
That's lovely. Weling up here. Big hugs, buddy
Great to hear you're in Julie's childhood home.
You're halfway through the day now and we're all behind you in wishing you luck to get through the rest.
nbt will probably flush my ashes down the loo, when I pop off :0(
Bunnyhop

That made me laugh more than it should.
Camped up on the north bank of the Ouse. Wild camped directly opposite drax. Lovely little spot.🤣
Wild camped directly opposite drax.
I think England ladies may have saved you from a 3am visit from the plod.

Nothing like an afterglow (and distance) to make even goole look nice.
On the ferry. Well a ferry. My paranoia tells me it's the wrong one..
Iĺ try to post a few more pics in a bit.
Nice ride today following the transpennine trail but it aint half indirect
Is this the Hull-Rotterdam ferry? I'm dropping some people off on it tomorrow afternoon for the return journey so I'll try not to run you over on the way up. You would spot them because they have 4 very yappy dogs but by then you will be lucky to be a long way away
You would spot them because they have 4 very yappy dogs
He doesn't seek them out you know
On the ferry. Well a ferry. My paranoia tells me it’s the wrong one..
There's only 1 per day to Rotterdam and another to Zeebrugge. I know's it's Hull but I'm sure they speak some form of English there 😜
You won't get a response for a while, he'll be down the disco with a load of German truck drivers.
There’s only 1 per day to Rotterdam and another to Zeebrugge.
No zeebruge passenger option these days is there? Maybe they made him take a freight one though as he's towing a trailer.
Direct boat to Rwanda surely? Pritti had heard a rumour he might be willing (likely) to start an argument with her. 😉
PS - I hope you had a good wind from the west on the Selby-Hull leg.
I did have a tailwind apart from when the cycle route went round and about
Thats another leg completed. I am going to rest up in Amsterdam for a few days. Then I'll decide what do next. Physically i am feeling pretty good. The head is not bad either.

Crikey, your photoshop skills are bloody good. That sunshine and blue sky looks real, you've even got the shadows right.
