I would like to buy my partner a custom Titanium ring for her upcoming 50th, but struggling to find much.

I vaguely recall someone on here who used to make them?
Or people who had bought them?

Anyone any experience of buying these?

Thanks in advance

No practical experience but when researching found they cannot (easily) be repaired or resized if should be necessary.

They don’t tend to need repairing… but the resizing thing is true… buy with her don’t try and get this done as a surprise, is my advice.

Experience: bought my other half a ready made ring… she tried a few on, bought the right size… in use daily for 20 years. I also have one, custom made, turned out to be the wrong size, occasionally wear on the wrong finger but mostly sits forgotten at home.

Or easily cut off by the fire brigade - I'm an engineer and have a ti wedding ring and a full compliment of 12 fingers still.

My wedding ring is from Boone Rings in the US. They had some mtb connection in the past, which is why I used them.

If you search for the name on here you may find some UK based options.

Both our rings have a split in them already, by design.

Impressive mutation. Is that 6 on each hand or 7 on one and 5 on the other?

Treat yourselves to a weekend in Brighton and visit Ring. They have a massive selection of titanium rings. My wife and I got our wedding rings there. Great service, too.

Neither my wife nor I have the same sized fingers we did when we got married, was my point. Without being indelicate, wedding cake can be quite fattening.

I got mine custom made with an inlay of family gold (sounds poshet than it is). Wasn't too much and probably well within the realms of 50th budget.

I’ll second or third the comments about the difficulty in resizing Ti rings.

I have a stainless steel ring, it could be made bigger by machining some metal off on a lathe. You can’t put it back on though.

I got engagement/wedding rings for me and MsGinge 3D printed in stainless for a relatively small amount of money. You can get titanium done at the same places for not much more:

My wedding ring is titanium, only cost 50 quid from Ernst Jones, albeit about 20 years ago.

I do have two more identical ones that are the two sizes smaller for when I’ve lost weight over the years…

I have a Titanium and oak wedding ring from Justin Duance jewelry (google them or search Instagram) it wasn't expensive and is very nicely made. I think they do plain Ti ones as well.

Rather titanium than tungsten.

Another downside is they mark ceramics so be careful when cleaning the sink or washing your favourite mug etc.

I bought mine from a shop in Edinburgh (on Princes St) but that was 14 years ago 😳

I like the light weight of titanium rings as well as how they don’t feel cold when worn.

There's an ex cycling pro that makes jewellery in the UK, his name escapes me though 🙁

The 3D printed wedding band, 8 years on.

The internal pattern is very much intentional and couldn’t have been created using anything other than 3D printing. The markings on the outer surface are artefacts of the 3D printing process and show the layers that the steel was put down in.

Was going to suggest an alternative might be a carbon ring from Rob Hayles, he's only down the road in Hayfield

I got mine from John Greed Designs. 12 years on and it's picked up a nice patina .

if you can find it theres one in my garden that went AWOL at somepoint during an extension.

i suspect it might be in the foundations....

I replaced it with a cheapo Ti from Ernest Jones as i figured it wouldnt be the last i lost.
