Not sure how I did it, but had a niggle for a few weeks, which on Thursday turned to significant discomfort. I can’t take ibuprofen as it gives me ulcers, so have been using ice packs and doing as little as possible (bad timing given this weekends weather!)

Got a big weekends riding planned in the Quantocks next weekend... any tips to aid/accelerate recovery?

All depends where it is/what/if/extent of damage.  IM(regrettable)E rest is advisable until you know what's going on. See someone who knows asap.  Sporting injury specialist would be my first call in hindsight.  All the best for a quick recovery.
