Where are you? We have stacks of baby/toddler stuff that we need to get rid of if you're near.
Rigid pub bike for you in Hazel grove if you want it , any bike is better than no bike.
My email is - moseydo@hotmail.co.uk
Thank you all for the kind offers.
Barnsleymitch - so kind, above and beyond.
Is that your PayPal too? Lol
Edit
Test fiver sent.
The F4's a medium, I'm about 6' and it fits me ok. Just let me know if you want to borrow it, send me an email, no need for a fuss and we don't need to keep going on about it on here. Take care and good luck.
+1 on the baby kit assistance. We've got literally bags of clothes that are waiting to be got rid of and some other bits too...
I'll have a root around and see what we've got...
Large Whyte 901 sitting around doing nothing here, needs brakes. In Loughborough if you want to borrow a bike long term!
Mosey you are spot on the baby won't care if its stuff is 5th hand all they need is you.
As for bike stuff I have way to many bikes & spares 1 of which is too small for me @ 18"
Don't worry about money for it, but to save you feeling like a charity I will email you.
In your OP you reached out for advice.
My advice is to let people help you.
You're uncomfortable with Mich's offer (and everyone else's) and I get that. But if you fall over you're no use to your family or to anyone else. Tear his bloody arm off, even if you have to rationalise it by paying him back later. Look after number one or you can't look after any bugger else.
I'm usually the strong one offering any help I can so as so easily noticed I am struggling to accept it's me who needs it now.
I'm 5 ft 7 so imagine it would be too big but I'm so thankful for the offers.
I'm usually the strong one offering any help
As are we all, hence why we can relate to your problems, we see in ourselves how easy it would be to be the same.
If a build happens in the immediate future I've a pair of 26" wheels+tyres as well as other bits.
Only just saw this thread, but there's arthritis in my family, it's a proper bastard.
A bike isn't just a thing, its space to breath, and a moment's freedom. I speak having clung to rides in difficult times. Also, I've no baby things with which to assist...
I have a Ti hardtail frame that you could borrow (it's definitely a loan as I want it back!!!!). I'm 5'7" so it would be fine for you.
Headset.
A pair of Hope/Mavic wheels. Choice of tyres.
Some BB7s (need rotors).
XT shifters, front and rear mechs.
Stem.
Bars
Grips.
Saddle
Anyone have a set of forks (100mm or thereabouts)??
Cranks/Rings
A cassette/chain
A 27.2 seatpost
I reckon that's about a complete bike?
My girls are the youngest of 8 neices and they have rarely had the sight of brand new clothes, particularly up to about the age of 8/9. But this has given us more cash for holidays, trips out etc, and seem to get more out of this than any new item of clothing.
Can do the 27.2 seatpost, and probably the cassette and chain, and rotors.
Think I might have the seat post. if 9 Speed a chain too. I no need for either, and they have no real value on the FS board.
Big old box of dusty 26" / inch and an eighth era spares here if you need anything. Most of its no use to me as starting on a cull of kit for space reasons so could end up going in a skip or bike recycling charity anyway.
Email in profile.
Baby kit I can't help with as it's already gone.
I have a post in that size spare yes
Mosey - well done on posting and for getting this far. Those who care for others often struggle to recognise how great their contribution is. Great news re baby Mosey and hope all goes well for you all.
Happy to chip in if a build fund is needed.
My box of stuff could fill the blanks for scotroutes offer that are not already offered above btw.
Scotroutes, I've some old Rockshox somewhere. I think you live local to me so I can drop them off with a pair of cranks too, if the OP accepts your offer.
Scotroutes, I've some old Rockshox somewhere. I think you live local to me so I can drop them off with a pair of cranks too, if the OP accepts your offer.
Cheers. If this is a go-er you can drop them at Ticket to Ride in Inverness and I'll get the bike sorted.
You don't buy secondhand baby stuff, people are glad to give it away.
What stuff have you already got? I'm sure me and others will have surplus bits to offer.
We have a baby mat and a bottle set. That's it. We will get there though.
Do you live anywhere near an Aldi? They have a baby event on at the moment. I'll speak to my wife and see if we have anything, although we've just got rid of a load of baby clothes. I'm only in Glossop so can drop stuff around.
Edit: Do you need a cot?
I somehow missed this thread first time round. I've just read the first and last pages.
My first baby is now almost 20 years old and he didn't mind that everything was 2nd hand when he was born 🙂
If you do end up taking up one of the offers to borrow a bike you're welcome to join us on our Wednesday night rides. We sometimes go from Disley or Hayfield, which aren't far from Stockport, sometimes we go from bit further away (E.g. Macclesfield Forest). We are Dukinfield CC (the muddy ducks), so you can check out our website.
All the best to you both, and the baby bump.
I'd seen Aldi had an event, we have one near too so thanks, I'll go check it out.
Vicky, thank you. Hopefully I can see you one day on a ride.
OP great to hear back from you, "new" baby things make the parents feel better, the main thing the little one will need is the love and attention of his/her parents.
We're a small and friendly group. We love our biking but we are friendly and never leave anyone behind 🙂
Murf - can you drop me an email?
Also - anyone got a couple of 160mm 6-bolt rotors kicking around?
i have one rotor in 160mm if still needed .
and a Mclaren pram if it is any good .
can do rotors, (old but will do the job for now) miles away from you scotroutes but can sort posting/dropping off to OP if you send address, got wheels bars, stems and miscellaneous other crap too
SR: I've got a 27.2 seat pin kicking around somewhere ....
got some nearly new spd pedals and cleats, too
I can donate a RM hard tail frame if we can fit it out, I don't want it back.
Had it for a few years with the intention of building it up for one of the grand kids, I am fortunate enough to be able to buy them a bike if & when the need arises.
Why?
MrsT suffers from psoriac arthritis+type2 diabeaties
I will ask MsT & Tjnr if they have any baby stuff
Scotroutes Ti HT has trumped us all, but 17" Marin Mount Vision frame (26", natch), headset, BB yours for keeps if you want it?
Scotroutes Ti HT has trumped us all,
It's a loan! It has too much sentimental value 🙂
SR: I've got a 27.2 seat pin kicking around somewhere ....
Bring it on Friday?
Got a pair of nearly-new Shimano 160mm 6-bolt rotors if that helps? Happy to post to wherever.
sr: aye, I've got some little used HR and Ardent tyres in 26" flavour I can bring too.
Tyres I have aplenty!
milky1980 - ygm
If Murf forks don't work out I have a set of F120's I can put back on the Soul and therefore would have a set of 100-120-140 TALAS that would be 'spare'...
OK.
Can someone coordinate what we have/can donate?
My contribution.....
RM frame+wheels+forks+stem+bars+disc brakes.
Brakes have been lying unused for some time!
Will do pics tomorrow .
I think I have everything now except cranks and forks - which murf has offered. I just need to check compatibility (steerer/A2C and BB type) and I think I'm sorted.
I have lots of bits in the garage loft - octalink BB/chainset(s), probably wheels, definitely tyres (though prob no innertubes) and loads of other stuff (grips, pedals, pumps, cables etc).
May even have a pram and/or cot, dunno (my youngest is 13, so that shit'll be well hidden if it's still there)
let me know what'd help and I can have a look tomorrow
Doffs hat to Scotroutes. Grand effort and a sign of your true colours my friend !
E-mail sent Scotroutes 🙂
I have some avid bb5 brakes and levers and I think I have a 27.2 seat post if it's needed for the build.
I have a GXP crank and threaded bottom bracket, coming off a new-build PArkwood with 1 mile on it. it's a 2x with a 38T/24T ring fitted
nothing yet.murf - Member

Could you try ccadden AT gmail DOT com please?
Thanks for all the offers of bits guys, I think I have it covered but might contact you if something falls through
So back to baby stuff. Seems we gave most of it away recently so just got a Mamas & Papas Moses Basket with wooden stand and a couple of pairs of socks really.
Email me if interested in basket, it's just in the next room and I could take a pic. I'm sure I'll be down your way some time and could drop it in.
Mosey - not sure where to begin but congratulations to you and your wife.
Not sure if we have any baby stuff left but will ask the missus if we have anything worth sending your way.
2x10 X0 groupset available if required ? Carbon cranks and everything !
Lots of handlebars as well.
Like everyone says, we get secondhand baby and toddler stuff - my 3 year old doesn't care and neither do we, and I live in a Waitrose neighbourhood where the sheer thought of it makes other mums go pale ! So far she has been outfitted in other peoples Icebreaker, my wife and I think its quite funny.
Not sure how fair it is... but i rekon his email is his paypal address so we can all send him money 🙂
Please don't send me money. Talking through with you guys is amazing enough as it is.
My PayPal is my address and i got your test Weeksy. I'll send it back over.
It really does help more than you know.
Ahh sod it, I have a bike that I don't use any more, had planned to put it up for sale but if you want it Mosey then let me know.
If you end up with a trailer for the wee one at some point let me know as I have got an infant seat that fits in and means you can use it from very small.
email is grahamt1980 at hotmail dot com.
Trailer is still well in use i'm afraid
Toofarwest such a kind offer. I Couldn't possibly accept.
Thank You For the offer of the infant seat. I'll send you an email.
Three days ago you wrote

So consider it karma coming back around, offer still stands.
Mosey, unfortunately I don't have any bike or baby bits but I am fairly time rich at the minute and am only an hour from you in the Derbyshire Dales. If you ever want to muck about on bikes or have a chat let me know, if you don't feel comfortable accepting scotroutes's Onion then I have two bikes and you can borrow one. We also have many nice pubs for socialising nearby (sadly I can't drive just now to come to you). Absolutely zero interest in how fit or not you are, it doesn't matter.
Email in profile if you're game.
Mosey, somehow missed this thread until now. I'm in Stockport and will check out what baby stuff I have stored in the loft. As twistedpencil suggested, have you been down to Bruntwood BMX? The Saturday morning club sessions (10-12) have bikes available to hire.
Thank exile. I'll definitely look at popping down.
I'll speak to the missus when I get up later, we've got a load of baby stuff, over Bolton way so not too far, will email you a list if you want.
I havnt read all the other answers. And what im suggesting may sound strange. But xant you get two wifes/girlfriend on the side , still have babies? And still love your life to the end. It works out grate in other parts of the world.talk it through with your wife. Cause as i understand. Your in between two things in life you cant live without. And those two things cant coexist.Talk it through with your wife hopefully you both can live like that.i think thats whats trubbling you. You know you have to choosr. And im giving you an quite easy solution. So you dont have to choose between. But youll get some strange reactions from your suroundings. But theyll understand by time
Mosey - I've lost track of where you are with offers of baby stuff but we have a Mamas and Papas Urbo pram/pushchair ( in red in case of all offers being equal 😉 ) you can have along with a compatible Cybex car seat that fastens via the seatbelt or clips onto the wheels of the pram. It's all in great nick and you'll be the second owner. I can drop it off too in the next 1-3 weeks as I'll be passing through Stockport on a weekly basis.
I can make enquiries about a ninth-hand, three-wheeler 'grasstrack/gnarmac' pushchair (big recline but not flat) too but only if you think you'd have a use for it.

Cranks anyone?
Bike has a 68mm BB shell and I have a nice XT HTII BB that will fit it. Or something with a suitable BB?
Everything else is 9-speed too (not that it matters too much).
If threaded i have a brand new 2x SRAM GXP cranks + BB. Used for 200m only and taken off. I was going to Classified it, but happy to donate to the cause. Came fitted to my Parkwood last week. I can even throw in the X5 shifter to go with it and front mech... in for a penny, in for a pound 🙂
Just cranks you need now Scotroutes?
Should also be able to help out on baby stuff as we have a four week old who is growing quickly and no future use for the stuff although I reckon you may be getting swamped with the stuff 😀 When is he/she due to arrive?
Good god man, what were you thinking!Bike has a 68mm BB shell

The man may need a little temporary assistance but there's no way I'm building a bike with mixed SRAM and Shimano shifters!!
(Cranks may be fine though, as I should be able to get a Shimano 3x mech to work with them. Email in profile)
Colin if the bike is finished before next weekend I can ask lee if she can bring it down in her van. I'm meeting her in wales for the bb200 and live in Sheffield I'll be passing by Stockport on my way back on Sunday. More than happy to deliver it.
Cranks and BB shipped 🙂
Scotroutes just sent a build pic across, obvs weeksy's cranks will 'butch it up' a bit

Seriously though, pics would be good
depending on the flavour of the child, we have some slightly older kit (3-6mo and onwards, iirc)
Obvs if it's a boy you're still welcome to it but it might not suit so well.
We don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet.
I'm so thankful for the help so far.
It really is overwhelming.

I can bring it down to the BB200 in my own bloody van thanks very much 🙂
Forks hopefully acquired tomorrow....
Bollocks. The forks kindly provided by Murf turn out to have a steerer that's too short. That puts paid to my plan to get the bike down tomorrow. Yeah, yeah - I should have checked that first.
So - 80-100mm travel forks, 200mm 1 1/8" steerer, Q/R, Anyone?
We don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet.
I popped in to ask that very question! I'll remove the pink stuff from the box we've assembled. Washing done Mosey, parcel on the way tomorrow!
Mosey,
We have a small club group which are scattered around the Stockport area. We meet in various locations on a Wednesday night and would be delighted to have your company if you need someone to ride with. We've all had our issues, some extremely serious. We often openly discuss what anti depressants we are taking and we are like a little self help group!
I lost my father to lung disease a couple of weeks ago and the humor, exercise, and fresh air of our Wednesday night ride made a big difference to helping me through the grieving process.
Again, we'd be delighted if you'd like to join us. Just drop me a pm if you do.

Re the previous post, I should read a full thread before posting!!! Duh!!! (My Mrs even posted a few weeks ago with the same group ride invite!)
It all still stands of course and good luck with the little un!

How desperate are you? I have a pair of 100mm Recon golds that have been languishing in the parts bin for a while. I've just been out and done a very quick service on them, and they appear to work fine. They fit all your requirements - steerer is exactly 200mm - but... there is some wearing on one of the stanchions, so would need more regular tlc than normal. Cosmetically they are OKish, but some paint flaking around the crown race and cable rub on one lower.
