when do we say oi shove your old boys system up you ar*e and get real?
This is the oh so Gerat Britain.
We will sit back and take it like we always do...
Unfortunately we are still under the impression that the class system is a good one. Whilst we labour under that misapprehension there will always be ruling clique of public school boys who put themselves and their financiers above everything and everyone else.
It's hardly Libya round here........
If by "revolution" you mean halfhearted moan on the internet, then yes.
It's hardly Libya round here...
As you are so conveniently reminded most every day.
If by "revolution" you mean halfhearted moan on the internet, then yes.
How about taking it to the next level. A stiffly worded letter to the Telegraph.

Walk through London carrying a sign?
Like what?
Start a revolution because some people earn more than you?
There are probably a couple of billion people who'd find your dissatisfaction utterly disgusting.
I'm gonna tweet this idea straight away.
Sorted.
No actually doing something
Why not do something yourself? Start local. The first organisation to overthrow is in your head.
No actually doing something
The revolutions in the middle-east were sparked by a fella setting fire to himself. You could try that.
... and I follow ukuncut on Twitter.
Doubly sorted!
I appreciate there's folk much worse off than us and there has always been haves and have nots but seriously can't the playing field be somewhat more level. How many nurses or soldiers or coppers or fire fighters get a bonus for doing their job to the best of their ability?
No actually doing something
What, like close their accounts with Barclays and take their business elsewhere?
🙄
It's the whole "boo hoo someone makes more money then someone else why is life so unfair" attitude I find a bit dull.
I'll keep my debt wherever I like thankyou very much.
Why not do something yourself?
Agreed.
How about getting a haircut and finding a job ?
......bleedin long-haired hippy revolutionaries
How many nurses or soldiers or coppers or fire fighters get a bonus for doing their job to the best of their ability?
You're asking the wrong question.
The questions are 'how many people can be firemen or nurses?' and 'how many people can be the top brass at a multi trillion pound bank?'
5thElefant, at least start at British DefCon One - The Raised Eyebrow.
Then move to DefCon Two - The sigh and "tut"
😉

Sorry, you're absolutely right. I got carried away with all this talk of revolution. A letter to the Telegraph would be excessive without exhausting the raised eyebrow first.
Given that Barclays - and HSBC - were not bailed out by the government a la Northern Rock etc, and chose to raise their own equity in the world market, while his salary is distasteful to me, it is none of my business as I am neither a customer nor a share holder.
What would Che have done?
Comment on the ukuncut site:
"A cabinet of millionaires have decided that libraries, healthcare, education funding, voluntary services, sports, the environment, the disabled, the poor and the elderly must pay the price for the recklessness of the rich."
nacho - while the cabinet of millionaires has made some awful decisions, the services you refer to are decided by your local councillors, many of whom will be up for re-election in May.
In the interest of democratic balance, try this right wing propoganda:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/8365463/Death-by-a-thousand-cuts.html
then apply the scenarios and costs to your own local councillors (data now available unless you are in Nottingham City, in which case it serves your right!), then consider who is to blame for what and how you should use your vote in May
Time has never been better, they're just in the process of shafting the police and the military are somewhat stretched (and being shafted) who's going to protect them?
"A cabinet of millionaires have decided that libraries, healthcare, education funding, voluntary services, sports, the environment, the disabled, the poor and the elderly must pay the price for the recklessness of the rich."
Continuing Labour's policy then.
Gotta love an internet revolutionary 😆
I think you'll find the people in North Africa have real economic and political issues with their dictatorial governments that make any suffering you think we are going to go through look like a piece of you know what
People over there are genuinely dying for the right to democratic expression and freedom, and yet in a couple of months half the iPad warriors on this forum will be whining that they haven't voted in the local election because they can't see the point.
That's because they are either too stupid, or too lazy.
And before you all start accusing me of being the bastid love child of Cameron/Clegg and Captain Flashy up there, can I just point out that my particular corner of the public sector is due to have a 20% staffing cut across the board by 30th June, so I am well aware of the impact on services and jobs that this is going to have.
whenever you consider the possibility of mustering a revolutionary task force on STW.. you must always remind yourself that the main population of active contributors is made up of tory extremists.. even the ones that think they are socialists.. are tory extremists.. self-deluding.. fundamentalist.. tory extremists..
"self-deluding.. fundamentalist.. tory extremists"
Blair, Brown....?
Blair, Brown
rise up and wee in their shoes... splitters
How about taking it to the next level. A stiffly worded letter to the Telegraph.
Green ink?
Blair....brown...ernie...
I know what you mean. Knee deep in tories in here!
And the libyans are much better at revolutions than us because they're properly armed. We havw a few thousand shotguns to our name and most of those are owned by Tories so thats a non-starter

You have a point.
Anyone who is prepared to spend thousands on two-wheeled toys rather than helping the oppressed and hungry is obviously, what's the word? Normal? Good for them. Even if they try to fool themselves that they're revolutionaries.

PMSL!
What tyres for the comrades, comrade? 😉
Continuing Labour's policy then.
Continuing on from the Conservatives then. and on ,and on...
There won't be a revolution, more evolution, once of course people wake up to the last 30 or so years of mismanagement this country has had.
Don't hold your breath. (Except tories, hold your breath by all means.)
All the Tory vs Labour bollocks misses the point entirely
Tony Benn sums it up pretty well
"Experience has shown that substituting Labour ministers for Tory ministers cannt achieve our objectives if we limit
ourselves to the more humane and efficient management of capitalism which depends on maintaining unacceptable
inequality""Socialists need to give as much attention to the institutions of the state as to the power structure of the economy,
since both are riddled with privilege and they combine to deny the people of Britain their rightful inheritance."
The revolutions in the middle-east were sparked by a fella setting fire to himself. You could try that.
Not with petrol at £1.31 a litre.
5thElefant - MemberContinuing Labour's policy then.
So this government's policy is "spend spend spend" ????
WTF ??? Now I'm totally confused ....... someone help me please.
Stoner ?
So this government's policy is "spend spend spend" ????
Yes it is. Spending is still going up.
But with regards to their policy on banks. It's identical. Bend over and no lube.
Who should I vote for if I think they're all a total pile of sh1t?
I'd tick the option -
None of the above but I wish the fact I have come to this polling station and therefore I am seriously concerned about the running of my country to be recognised.
So don't criticise me for not voting for the least worst option. That's just participating so you can say at least I did ie. prolonging the problem.
If you think the current democratic process doesn't work then vote yes to the alternative in the referendum.
molgrips you have no idea what i'm on about. i couldn't give a sh*t that people earn more than me, i'm just happy to be alive.
and as for the comment about how many could be firemen etc i'd like to see the top brass at the banks be a fireman and have to cope mentally with what they do. and to be honest i reckon there are plenty of people who could do what top bankers do if they were given the opportunity. it only maths at the end of the day..........ok with a fair dollop of greed.
i'd like to see the top brass at the banks be a fireman and have to cope mentally with what they do.
That's not the point. It's HOW MANY can do the job. Actually, it's more accurate to ask 'how much do you have to pay people to do the job?'
nd to be honest i reckon there are plenty of people who could do what top bankers do if they were given the opportunity
They do have the opportunity. Bankers are big employers, all you have to do is apply to one and work your way up. That's what the top brass did.
it only maths at the end of the day
Lol - understanding FAIL!
so molgrips.. are you advocating the 13k per day salaries that some of these guys award themselves as fair and just in these troubled economical times..?
all you have to do is apply to one and work your way up. That's what the top brass did.
lol... understanding or gross oversimplification fail 🙄
My Brother and his Missus both work for Barclays Wealth, they both received their best bonuses to date a few weeks back!
I know it's nice to look after your employees, . . . . but if they'd have received no bonus at all they'd still be working there, they're good jobs. I'm sure they'd have wrote it off as," ah well, Barclays are not giving me a bonus this year because the government are on their back".
That grates with me a little . . .
. . . . meanwhile, I do an important job for a small family firm and I'm on a 20% pay cut for a month or so, and haven't had a bonus for two years, and that was only £250!!!
