dogs

These two are Jerry and Sally. Jez is now 10, and we've had him for nearly 7 years. Sal was our first foster dog, and our only failure, as he and Jez got on so well we adopted her after a month. That was about 5 years ago (she's 8 now]. Life is very different since getting them, but I wouldn't change it for anything.
They are amazing companions.

Yeah man. Dogs are the dogs.

Harold eats a corn husk from a field, and it has to come out via an anaesthetic..

Beautiful time swimming in the river Teme in Ludlow. He was so overexcited at us all in the water that he tried to drown us!

Boxing day walk oop North at Dovestone and Chew reservoirs near Manchester. Nice bit of snow higher up.

Sorry for multiple posts. Stupid phone.
Both dogs on a Sunny South Downs walk, a sleepy sofa day and on Pembrey beach when it was blowing a hoolie!

The Springer x Lab, Reilly is nearly 14 and prefers sleeping and eating to pretty much anything nowadays but we still get about 4 miles a day out of him.
The Pomeranian, Lola is 4 and is mental. She loves that ball more than anything else in the whole world & it’s the one thing that guarantees you her attention.

Doug absolutely hates having his photo taken and deffo will not pose ever, so getting even three usable photos in a given year is tough...

January. At not qite three years old, this was Doug's first experience of real snow. He quite liked it.

https://flic.kr/p/2mjR9N4

August. Robin Hood's Bay. Doug loves the water but doesn't swim that much. He prefers to run along the shallows and stomp his front paws to splash loads of water up which he then tries to chase and catch.

https://flic.kr/p/2mhd73h

September. Doug shortly after winning Waggiest Tail at the CliffeFest Dog Show. Proudly displaying his stubborn refusal to pose like a good, handsome boy, instead preferring to present himself as some hunched, awkward, subnormal pooch.

😆 no he'd just had a tango.

It was a very lucky photo. Gorgeous sunset coming through a small gap and his fluff lit up. Took me a while to get him sat in just the right spot.

ok this might be cheating, as there is pictures of her on here already.

Some weeks ago when she had started to earn her keep by finding lost arrows for me, been training her for this job since we got her and was not expecting her to be this god at it at 7 months 🙂

@theomen the easiest way is to use imgur to upload your photo. Go to imgur and in the top left click 'new post' and drag and drop or navigate to your image. Then on the next page click on the three dots (ellipsis) and choose Get share links. Copy the BBcode and paste it straight into your message.

She'll sleep all night 10pm to 8am if she's in with us, just not on her own. And that's following a 2 hour evening snooze on the sofa.

She does plenty of brain work too, as she is a broken lab a lot of her food has to be in a puzzle feeder before she'll eat it! We also do lots of find it games and gundog training. Overnight sleeping has just always been a struggle if we're not right there with her.

She generally looks like this after gundog training

A separation anxiety thing then? That's outside my experience, all of ours have been happy to sleep alone. One took a while to connect with the humans as he had been ignored for a couple of years before we got him.

If you do think separation anxiety could be festering take a look at This article, about 2/3rds of the way down is a flitting game which many owners currently recommend.

I don't really think it is separation anxiety, we don't have any issues in the daytime. Can go from room to room, go upstairs, out the door to the bin without her following, getting upset etc. And she generally will go to sleep downstairs, she just won't often sleep all night on her own. Must have read my threat of free to a good home because of course she slept downstairs on her own all night last night 🙂

@superfli She's lovely and about ready for the odd short bike ride. The multi-colour is unusual as the breeders have in the past euthanised the puppies with more than one colour.

Dam you all, this thread is not helping in resisting a doggie companion.

@ebygomm
It may be time for earplugs for you both while your hound learns to sleep alone downstairs.

This may be a long haul thing similar to babies! (You're all ready doing all the exercise and mental stimulus, next thing would be behaviour training. DM if you want some pointers as my sister can give me some suggestions for people to approach in your neighbourhood).

Thanks @sandwich the mum and dad were both black spots (both owned by the breeders) it's odd she has some liver spots on her head! I do wish she had a few more spots like your lovely dally though. She loves a cycle or a run😁, and runs around licking people's faces at my bootcamp lol!

This is Beti, a Hungarian rescue dog that we've now had for over a year. Happiest chasing squirrels in the woods. Have tried taking her riding but last time she buggered off and was found 5km away sat waiting by the van. I trail run with her most days.

She really is great.

Up a local hill for dawn and a sausage butty. Dave enjoys both although sausages appeal more.

This is where we got Beti from. A great charity rescuing some fantastic dogs. To see our Beti (who had a tough start to life) under the duvet, in my spot, snoring away warms even this grumpy old sods heart.
