Well, hello. I always used to laugh when guys would come in the bike shop to say they got married, had some kids and forgot about everything other than utility cycling.... And then it happened to me. One day I was cycling around and now I have a 6 & a 3.

I hope to see some long remembered folk. I guess for those who have been here forever, I was here for Sudocrem Cat Post #1 and the only 29" was on a Niner.

I have no idea about anything new and bikey but once more unto the breach!

Bikes have curly bars now and if you have a MTB no one pedals uphill anymore unless the bike has a motor!

I have a Marin Nail Trail 650b from ...2012 I think. Still works but I figure I'm shouting at 40 and where else to come home to now I endeavor to be solely dead on my steel hard tail hill.

Are we still participating in celebratory flounces? I see the mods are the same (hi cougar).

Hi Chris! Welcome back to the fold.

Cougar is no longer a mod, and those that are (mostly) don't advertise it.

Hello! Excellent, it's important that I make a clattering error immediately upon my return in order to resume precisely how I left off (begging for post deletion to save nuclear self induced flaming).

Now, what single speed ratio for buggies?

Hello, and welcome back! Making errors is a career move for some people! Oh, and for whatever reason, emojis don’t work anymore.*

It won’t be long before it seems like you’ve never been away. [img] [/img]*

Well, some do… *winky emoji*

Hello!

As Scotroutes suggests, I handed back my moderator's cap a few years ago now because it was increasingly proving to be unhealthy for me. I think the only remaining 'out' moderator is Drac. Today my status is "Internet Gobshite" both within and without STW.

Even the diehards are contemplating an Ebike now.

Got married, 2 kids, mum oofed, dads knees don't work, multifarious and perennial bouts of medicated insanity and subjugating obligations bring me quite obviously to the point where I'm gonna join the Strathpuffer thread because what other way to celebrate your 40th than that lunacy.

I refuse to enter this decade of mechanical standard advancements so will be rebuilding the Reynolds 853 Norco with bits from everyone's shed.

Am I right, did we do a night ride at glentress, maybe a bike chain group ride or one of the actual stw rides?

Remember that glorious tour of Midlothian, sunbathers at Flotterstone and an heroic bit of single speeding up Maidens after about 6 hours.

Excellent , we've not had a community build for ages. Unfortunately I had a big clear out to a bike charity a couple of months ago, so my shed is bereft of useful stuff.

Hello familiar faces. And lots were regulars well before I arrived.

Thinking back to trips to GT and Midlothian loops, it's actually several lifetimes. I had forgotten almost all about it and thinking about it now has given me pause for thought to go "goodness me look at all that's happened".

Good to see you! Despite the passing years i still believe the most important thing is to go as fast as humanly possible in the straightest desire line available down the steepest hill you can find.

I'm in West Lothian now. When Spring comes at the very least I'll be up Bonaly/Reservoir loop because I can get there easy and it will be familiar and fun.

That's basically my entire computing stack. I'm genetically one quarter Womble, I've kitted out the house by going "ooh, you're upgrading, what are you doing with the old one?", and by dumpster-diving the WEEE pile at work.

We should all try to be more Womble.

Also, people* don't ride outside anymore in the winter. Just went up this big hill that took 90 minutes and I'm knackered but never left the house.

Hi Jimmy! Did you have a blue Bfe? If so, funny, because I could do with a bike exactly to spec for a decade ago

I recall Scott in that entirely inappropriately specced Merc.

I'm hopefully back for good this year, need to get out and about.

Blue BFe sounds about right, been on a Cotic ever since - 27.5 Soul now, completely off trend but entirely magic.

so will be rebuilding the Reynolds 853 Norco with bits from everyone’s shed.

I’ve still got an On-One Inbred 853 s/s out in the shed, just needs tyres and brakes sorted.

I plan on getting it back on the road fairly soon, I stopped riding after it dumped me on the ground without warning riding into town, resulting in osteoarthritis in my left knee, and loss of confidence. D3O kneepads will be aquired…

This is also in the shed, but as well as tyres and brakes needing sorting out, the Nixon Platinums will need a complete overhaul; fortunately TFTuned are not far away, in fact very close to where I used to work. In case you are wondering, it’s an Inbred 567 prototype, of which only two were made, and nobody seems to know where the other one went…
