Pretty sure there has been mention on the forum of timber cladding a house, possibly on someones (Trailrats?)project thread. My question is whether you need planning permission to do it? It's likely to change the appearance of a building significantly. I was fairly sure you would but was interested to hear others' experiences.

I am in Scotland fwiw.

Po9robably not the guy to ask.

Nothing was detailed for wall covering on my drawings. No one gave a monkeys.

It's all signed off and nothing was mentioned beyond the fact that I wasn't allowed to have a structural timber clad building .....all the inspectors concerns went away when I showed him it was traditional timber kit and block construction and the cladding was merely decorative. They were more concerned that I'd clad a pre-existing shed in matching cladding than the cladding on the extension..... Mainly as the inspector could have guessed what I was up to with the shed once he left im sure.....which is what bruneeps getting at 😉

This was Scotland and it was the rear aspect.
