A big strip of grout has fallen out of the seam in the corner of the shower. Whats the easiest cheapest way to bodge it? I was thinking tape of some sort?
It only needs to last about 3 weeks as the whole thing is being ripped out mid August, I would leave it but don't want to be looking at a water stained kitchen ceiling wishing I'd fixed it.

The down side with silicone is I'm absolutely obsessive about it, I'm also rubbish at it, (because I can't leave well alone) so it won't be quick, or watertight!

Why? It’s coming out in three weeks. Doesn’t need to be pretty.

Why?

Because if it isn't pretty I will pick it all out within a day. You know how you get with sticky up edges on scabs? Yeah I'm like that with silicone.

That being said, caulk proper would probably work, and I'm fine not picking at that

A small packet of grout would cost very little,or small tub of tile adhesive and grout combined. Can't quite see how you would be ok with tape and yet a bit of poorly applied silicone would upset you 🙂
As long as you let it properly dry then decorators caulk would probably last a few weeks

Me neither, but there we go! I guess it's the same reason I have to open doors with my left hand even if that means moving things from my left hand to my empty right [s] people are [/s] I'm weird.

See it as an opportunity to practice your silicone application skills.
Squeeze it in, ONCE over with your preferred smoothing tool (wet finger etc). Close eyes and walk away!

Silicone to seal it, then tape over to hide the silicone and stop you picking the edges of the it. Go for some fancy colour tape (red electrical for example) to try and take your mind of the silicone behind it 😉

That might actually work, I mean I don't go actively looking for the stuff so hidden with tape probably isn't a bad call

My first thought was Captain Beefheart album.

It only needs to last about 3 weeks

That being the case I'd duct tape it.

Bit of tape either side then silicone it, smooth it with finger etc then peel tape off so you’ll have straight edges and won’t obsess about it.
When you redo it always silicone the corners not grout.

Yep. I don't know why*, there's just something about silicon.

*well I sort of do, I just don't know why silicon and not something else especially but that's rather the nature of the issue. It's not just silicon, it's just that it's on the list of things I can't really deal with very well.

That's what I'd do, lot easier to remove than the silicon

You can buy grout in a tube for £6, or silicone for £2.50

Tape - really ?

Silicone it. White spirit is the secret - I was terrible at it until I discovered that, now excellent results really easily. eg here

Gorilla tape. It is truly amazing stuff, you will do well to get it off when it comes to demolishing the shower.
