thinking of stopping there for a few days, anyone got any recomendations on accomodation/camping or general advice?
I prefer the campsite on the way out of Val d'Isère direction Iseran. If you prefer an appartement they are cheap out of the ski season. Try Maeva in Tignes.
I stop in tignes la brevieres (sp?) it's the one just down from the resort at 1600. Or camp at the big site in bourg if we do some other resorts too. The one at tignes is basic, good for a couple of days but pick up everything you need on the way up from bourg.
Val d'isere camping is nice if a little exposed in bad weather but you can find shelter up the top end of the site if needed. Seems to be a better atmosphere in Val d'isere in the summer too with a few more places that seem to be open although you have to walk right through the town from the campsite which is at the top of the town. I spent a night in tignes and couldn't find anywhere serving food, but might just have been that we turned up the day before the lifts open for the summer.
Also really liked the "into the wild" "enduro" route for the final run down in the evening! Especially as the bottom part of the green and red routes which lead to Val d'isere seem to really take a hammering!
