Had to dust off the tick remover yesterday after finding a tick on my Springer.

I think that's the earliest I've ever had to do that.

They haven't really stopped here this winter (I took some off the dog in January) but they are definitely out in force now. We haven't had any cold weather to knock them back so I think its going to be a really bad tick year 😥

I think you're right.

Last year was pretty bad, but this year looks like it's going to be even worse.

They're horrible little things.

Not too bad finding them on my Springer, but my Tibetan Terrier is another story. Thick black fur makes it a bit of a nightmare.

I've been fortunate enough to not get bit myself........ yet.

I found one trying to burrow into the back of my hand on the way home from our ride this afternoon.

Ought to take their travel cards away, stop them getting out into the countryside.

Probably a stupid question… but do dogs suffer from the same tick-borne diseases that we do (such as Lyme)?

I've just topped up the boys Frontline which should help.

I use an O'Tom Tick Twister which works a treat.

I used to use tick tweezers, but I found it was hard to get a good grip on the head of the tick; espcially on a hairy dog.

Those O'Tom twisters work ok as I can testify when a tick attached itself to my left nipple last year. My Mrs got it off with the twister but a blowtorch would probably have administered the same amount of pain!

Very mild winter in certain parts of the UK.

Equals lots of bugs the summer.

Cats been getting ticks for the last couple of weeks. Had to get one from the middle of his whiskers the other day.

We do have a lot of Deers around us. Time for some tick collars for him and the dog.
