Epic light show around 1am. More heavy rain just now but thunderstorms predicted for the day.

That was probably the most epic storm I've seen in this country.  Constant violent thunder and lightning for 2 hours none stop.  Deafening rain - was pretty awesome.

Holl moly! That must have been epic; it woke me up for upwards of 15 minutes! That never happens. Still rolling around the hills this morning as well.

That was quite something last night! Without doubt the most intense display of thunder and lightning I’ve experienced here in Blighty - there was absolutely no let up for at least an hour. By coincidence I was watching Heima by Sigur Ros and was in totally the right frame of mind to absorb the experience.

Lots of flashes towards the east last night (Hastings way) but we had a few rumbles and that was it.

Best storm I ever experienced was driving back from Cornwall a few years ago, it started as we left Bude and really got into gear when we got to Exeter and then it was proper “sky-splitters” all the way to the M25. Never seen anything like it, it was the way every time I thought it was fading it would ramp back up.

fantastic over Southampton area last night - you couldn't hear the thunder distinctly because there was so bloody much of it

Seems we're off again this morning, bit more conventionally so far though

Massive amount of sheet lightning over London last night around 11pm.... very impressive.. like a monsoon. Would not fancy landing at Heathrow or Gatwick in that

I was watching it all on lightningmaps.org, it was incredibly heavy across the south-east, with another band running up through Salisbury, Warminster up towards Bristol, then more around South Wales. There was more this morning, but again most was clustered around Warminster across towards Bristol.

Didn't notice much in Woking other than could hear rumbles in the distance. Sounded more like fireworks, very rapid. Not much rain

Enjoyed it all from the security of our tent last night too, pretty loud, bright and rainy 🙂 not quite like the other week sheltering in a bus shelter and realised the building behind us had been struck by lightning and caught fire...

Been forecast in the Midlands since midday.  Not a snifter so far.  The bbc weather forecast keeps putting it at about 2 hours out.

Edit:  not even a shower here so at least the trails remain dusty dry!

Last night we were 20 mins South of derby. People we know who are just outside of derby didn' really have anything. It was like the paparazzi had invaded our tent there was that much flashing.

Nothing here in Ilkeston last night.

Couple of friends did Ride the Night in London last night, apparently it was quite exciting!

It’s worth keeping  an eye on

https://www.lightningmaps.org/blitzortung/europe/index.php?lang=

As it’s always live, you can see exactly where the active front of a storm actually is.
