Thule roofbar/footpack compatibility

As usual, something that could be easy turns into a compatibility bit of a mess.

I was wondering if the combined expertise of STW could help me out, please...

I have a new (to me) car on the way. It is a 14 plate Hyundai i30 with the four standard, fixed roof bar mounting points.

I have Thule Aerobars (I think). They're probably around 10 years old and are symmetrical, so have no obvious leading/trailing edge.

Can somebody please tell me what the correct footpack is? I think it may be 7107, but I'm quite confused now.

Thanks in advance.

👍

Have you tried the Halfords website. You can stick your regular in and it should tell you.

Or go straight to source.

There are differing lengths of roof bars - if you measure yours you can identify whether you can carry them over or not.

The Halfords site doesn't return any Thule footpacks.

It's not so much the foot-car interface that is bothering me. I know it is the 'standard' fixed mount points on the car. I.e. not bars, not something that needs the door hooks and not a funky fixed mount like BMW(?)

It is more whether the 7107 footpack plays nice with all Thule roofbars. I think it does. But the different roofbars seem to have slightly different cross sections. My bars are quite old Aerobars and I'm a tad worried that Thule have more than one foot-bar interface for the ones that have the central channel underneath.

As always IME with these things, there is no definitive compatibility grid for all the permutations a manufacturer has created with their product evolution. I have looked at some length.

I've got some virtually new 122cm steel bars I'd like to swap for some 135cm ones.

As we are talking about Thule compatibility, has anyone ever found a tool to see which cars use the same combination of parts?

We recently bought a used car, a 2021 (old shape) Kia e-Niro. I can use some of the websites listed above to see which foot/bar/mount packs fit the car, great. But I'm looking to pick up what I need cheaply and second hand from Facebook Marketplace/Gumtree etc, but most sellers aren't really aware of what the foot/bar/mount model numbers are.

They would have long binned any documents with part numbers, probably sold the car 5 years ago and are clearing out the garage with little knowledge of what they are selling. Therefore the advert usually says something like "Thule Roof rack for a 2010 Peugeot 2008" rather than listing the part numbers.

Is there a tool where I can see a list of all of the cars that take the same combination of foot/bar/mounts, allowing me to broaden my search from just "2021 Kia e-Niro roof rack"  or the specific part numbers, to "X Manufacturer Y Model roof rack"?

If there is, I can't find it.

Until now I didn't realise certain bar lengths would be an issue either.

🙄

As above, I know what the fixings between the feet and car are. I obviously know that my bike carrier fits on my bars.

What I can't find is whether the footpack that fits the car will fit my existing bars. Given Thule are generally thought of as a belt and braces company, I expected a bit better from them if I am being frank.

I used to sell my old roof bar bits when I sold my cars to fund the new bits but have found I needed to re buy some of the bits new again when I next changed my car, very frustrating. I stopped selling them and now have 3 complete sets of bars from my Passat/sportage/Ateca but currently own an EV the cannot take any roofbars!
