I have a set of Thule roof bars & footpack (1254 which are apparently same as 755).

They’re ancient and can’t find any literature about them. I’ve put them on our Skoda Karoq & they seem to fit fine, tighten nicely and don’t go anywhere…

I can’t find anything online that says whether they’re compatible - probably because they’re an older model on a newer car. Anyone used these or used a footpack that’s not specifically for your car?

Many footpacks are very similar - if it fit's securely then it should be fine. My feet have a little pin that locates above the doors in a 'hole' in the car body, but if I change the car, I recon I could just cut off the 'pin' to fit other cars !

If there 'normal' roofbars, not some kind of track or low profile, then they will be fine.

I've (I think) the same footpack and used on 99 Passat, 05 Touran, 13 V70...

Not so sure I'd be overly happy using a 'low profile' rail for a rack with heavy bikes - I'd want the foot pack to actually go underneath the rail.

If it's the old box-section bars then I've no idea but I'd likely just bin them.

If it's a modern aerobar (T-track) style then you have the bars, a foot pack and an adapter kit. The foot packs are likely cross-compatible if you're going between cars with a similar fixing but the adapter kits are very much model-specific.

Honestly though, it's not something I'd want to bodge and hope for the best with several grand's worth of gear strapped to the top. I'd be talking to roofbox.co.uk to be sure.

The biggest issue I have with my 4 bike rack is, it's flaming heavy. The rack I had 30 years ago for my Mk2 Escort was cheap and light. The Thule, with aerobars and 4 freeride carriers weighs about the same as a small elephant. It's usually a two person job to lift on the car, although if I use some mircofibre drying cloths, I can slide the rack over the roof, with the 'feet' resting on the cloths. I usually leave it on during March-November, but given the fuel costs, it's come off after depositing some of the bikes at our 'caravan', and will only go on when transporting a number of bikes.

So was the Escort, for about the same reason. (-:

Mine are now 16 years old, regularly carry two 40kg open canoes, and happily take me (90kg) jumping in the middle.
In fact, the old square bars are sold as 'heavy duty' bars now
Unless they are rusted badly or the plastic really UV bleached, they will be fine.
Our 'old' feet from Thule and 'new' from Atera are very similar, and don't clamp fully around. The bike racks do clamp fully round the old square bars.
IMO, the new Thule on our Seat seems way less secure, relying on a 2mm deep groove to clamp into...

"Fine" = could be a lot better. "Seems" = subjective opinion. 😁

I had a mate who had the box section bars, they were horrendous. Nothing ever (subjectively!) felt secure and they were noisy as hell. Yours could be a lot better quality than his of course, it's hardly a large sample size.

I've the luxury of 2x sets of aero bars and bike racks for 2x cars, and a set of the footpack op has and square bars.
I tape over the slots in ours, massively reduces noise as does finding a 'sweet spot' on the car - too far back they howl, too far forward they whistle, in the middle they are ok.

They've done over 20k in use, usually with much heavier loads than bikes, on all sorts of roads. The loads our 17' boats put on are massive - and the boats or bars don't move at all.
