Hi,
Wondered if anyone had any experience of Footmuffs (and options) for a Thule Chariot (sport)? We are thinking it would be good to get one for the winter months. There is the official one but wasn't sure if people had experience of using other 5 point compatible ones.
Thanks
Matt.
We just wrapped them up in a small double layered fleece blanket! In addition to snow suit and suitable outdoor wear.
isnt nearly every buggy 5 point these days ?
We use a generic one in both our nipper sport and our croozer - along with various blankets and picnic blankets depending on what was too hand when it was cool.
Used a generic one from our buggy for a while. We got a bit scared of it though as the kids would chew the pull cord. As they were behind us you couldn’t really tell what they were doing. So I just got a waterproof backed blanket from TKMaxx which worked well.
one thing to note is the buckles on the chariot are really chunky and may not pass through the pre-cut openings on some foot muffs.
It's a fair while ago but the best footmuff we had and saw was the one from our Out and About nipper. Other people saw it and bought one. It was kind of windproof fabric with fleece backing like the stuff Buffalo makes it's jackets from and had a zip right round. Washed well too. We also had a cheap generic fleece one from a charity shop that was fine but slightly less warm.
Also fleece lined puddle suits for cold days. Like this but much swapped and traded second hand:

My two were always fine in a snowsuit, that includes some sub zero nursery runs.
When I had an out and about sport, I picked up a generic one from eBay and it was fine.
I like my footmuff, easy to wash and swap between pram and chariot. I've used blankets on the chariot too, they often fell down.
perhaps use a child’s sleeping bag and cut some holes for the straps or a blanket (as others have suggested) if you don’t want to spring for the ‘real’ thing?
We had a Phil & Teds pilot/navigator style buggy. We got the branded nylon faced fleece lined zip up sleeping bags for it. They came with holes in the back for the straps. They were great. Cold weather meant the children were snug and kept all their extremities even in grim weather. Well worth the money. And kept some value when we eventually sold them.
Thanks for all the replies, super useful. We probably will go for the official foot muff but wanted to see what others thought as new to chariots and bike trailers. I'm assuming people have experiences without the sling installed? I think that limits the options for any third party muffs but thought it be good to check with others.
