Given that I have a normal human diet, that's quite the recommendation!

For real ale try the Craft Beer co, the evening star, or the basketmakers arms

For curry - the chilli pickle, or for amazing Thai the Giggling Squid (seafood based stuff is the best there)

I haven't been yet - but I hear Smokeys is amazing for Texas style BBQ

Hell yes.
Used to live near the hospital so i'm biased but I rather think it's the nicest bit, anyway, suggestions;
The hand-in-hand pub for their own brew'd beer
Barley Mow for cheap & good grub
Sams on paston place for very good food
The st james for thai & 80 rums
Cranks bicycle workshop if you're bored and want to help-out
Terreaterre is excellent food
pomegranate also superb food

Golly gosh, I bet they're pleased that a "normal human" has recommended them.
