This was on C4 on Saturday night so we gave it a watch.
Now we enjoyed it but the ending was total shite wasn't it?
I thought it ended well - made you think, left it open to interpretation, they could even do a version 2. I liked the fact it didnt resolve everything - more realistic. Life is mostly a mess and many things are unresolved. It was better being more realistic that way than ending like some fairytail where the princess marries the frog and they all live happily after.
I really enjoyed it when I watched it, but you know sometimes you've watched a film and it stays with you, and you start to remember bits that really click and it seems to get better the more you think about it? It was the exact opposite - the more I thought about it the sillier and less convincing it got. The Sam Rockwell character's arc and the "now we're bestest mates" ending was total bollocks.
I put it down to great performances and direction of a compelling premise masking a basically unconvincing plot. I still had a good time watching it though!

No not really, you could impose several different interpretations on it. From what I have seen the generally accepted interpretation was that the flawed characters were redeemed at the end, going out to sort out the evil rapist. Where as I took it as them not learning anything (the lessons the police chief tried to teach them), heading out to maybe murder a man because they believed in their own righteousness over the requirement of evidence.
The ending was great. The refusal to package everything up in a nice, neat, Hollywood style resolution was completely in keeping with the rest of the film. In particular, the fact that every character was neither all good, not all bad, but shades of grey, like real life.
She was an unrealistically accurate Molotov cocktail thrower though.
Ha ha. Those petrol bombs were laser designated!
The ending was perfect.
Why the need to tie everything up? Completely in keeping with shifting tone of the rest of the film.
Reflect on it in a few weeks and it will likely still be banging around in your head.
Can't say the same for Rampage.
I too watched it over the weekend. I thought it was a marvellous film and enjoyed it immensely. Complex characters and a complex storyline, my kind of thing! I thought the ending was not the usual kind of Hollywood ending but it made me think about the film and that is a good thing IMO. I felt that the film ran out of time a little towards the end but didn't ruin it.
Regarding the story, I understand it is loosely based on a true story. The film suggested (to me) the chief suspect was not the obvious choice (I won't name who I thought the murderer is so others can enjoy the film). The performances by Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell were immense and the Rockwell character was very enjoyable.
9/10 from me.
No, the ending was fine.I found some of the Peter Dinklage parts forced, they should have given him a better part and script.Abbie Cornish was next to useless and seemed a bit lost.Other than that, an excellent film for me .8/10
the princess marries the frog and they all live happily after.
Duuude! No spoilers!!!!!
I have to partly agree having watched it ages ago, enjoyed the whole film but the ending left so much open that I found it a little frustrating. I didn't necessarily want it wrapped and signed and delivered to me but equally who did it?!?!
In fact I might give it another watch because I really did enjoy it, maybe the next time I can work it out!
I thought the ending was pretty good actually. Given the letter that Dixon receives, and his realisation that his rage about his dad has made him what he is, he is trying in his way to move on...Likewise Mildred has came to understand that the likelihood of discovering the truth about her own daughters death is unlikely, so why not try to solve another's?
I liked it. Though I was baffled why the cop faced no criminal action after beating a man and throwing him from a window. Despite it being witnessed by the new chief. Unless that was to demonstrate the power of the corrupt police. He should have been charged with attempted murder rather than just losing his job. It lost credibility for me at that point.
I enjoyed it but there was such a sea change in one of the characters I just didn’t buy into.

I was initially baffled by this but then as the story continued I thought that the offer of the orange juice by Red symbolised forgiveness.
The Sam Rockwell character’s arc and the “now we’re bestest mates” ending was total bollocks.
Yeah I don't remember the film that well, but I definitely thought this! Just didn't work for me.
Still a good film though, I love Frances McDormand
But that was only after he'd been frazzled. If he'd been locked up before that, which he should have been, he would have had no chance at redemption. At least for the duration of the film...
Stuff in life doesn't have good/specific/dealable with endings...as a film makes sense unless you need comfort
I thought it was great and I interpreted the ending as a closure to the violence they’d both been through and weren’t going to kill the rapist after all.
Three main characters were excellent, but why did they give the sheriff a wife who was obviously half his age?
Some world beating swearing in there too! Impressive.

You missed the emoji to signify sarcasm. At least I hope so.
