OK, so have a v old and battered Exposure Joystick, and replacing the battery. The threads have failed on the screw cap. I think it was so seized on after 8+ years, that when I unscewed it, requiring considerable force, it's cleared the threads on body and cap.

I'm wondering if 2 small blobs of Araldite will secure it firmly enough, but in another 5 years time, I'll be able to break the blobs to replace the battery?

Or is there a better secure, but not too secure glue/sealant option?

(and it's so well used I'd be embarrassed to send back to Exposure!)

PTFE tape around the threads before screwing it back up?

Might be worth sucking up your embarrassment and chancing your arm with an email to Exposure.

I'd use a little Loctite thread lock rather than actual glue. The Probably the low strength one on what is quite a large are of thread. You can buy little little lip-balm size tubes for a couple of quid. Can't remember the number sorry.

Loctite 243? I wouldn't use Araldite if you want to remove it again.

thanks all ... going for a combo of Loctite (blue) + self-amalgamating tape ... we'll see!
