been looking at both the exped megmat 10 lxw and its lighter version, which they claim is much the same comfort wise. Both are expensive so I thought I'd ask whether the numerous reviews you see online saying " as comfortable as my bed " and the suchlike, are outrageous exaggerations ( unless they have crappy beds) or, not far off in reality. I suspect the former but would like to hear your opinions if you've slept on one .

They are really good. Not quite like my bed, but best mat I’ve slept on.

We haven't got the exped but a very similar one from go outdoors. Slightly cheaper but not much. I was very sceptical as its just a fancy air bed, right? Its actually very good. Not quite as comfy as our main bed at home but not that far off probably better than the spare bed (which is still a decent bed). We've recently been taking it with us to a b&b we stay at regularly as its way better than the bed there. You still get a bit of wobble when two up and its very noticeable when the other person gets up but for sleeping on its great.

Yes. To the point that we have had people who come to stay at home asking to sleep on the floor on a Megamat rather than the double bed in the guest bedroom.

Only thing is to realise that they are very pressure sensitive - too much and it can be agonising, too little and the same.

Ours were more expensive than our tent and worth every penny IME.

I have a couple of Downmats and they are excellent. Can't comment on Megamat though.

Megamat much comfier than downmat. I’ve got both (well, wife has the megamat). Megamat doesn’t have that lilo-like feeling. Kids have alpkit dozers, and they’re good too. Not quite like the megamat, but much cheaper.

I bought an Alpkit Dozer last summer. I was committed to 2 weeks camping with a bad back. The old mat had set my back off a bit the year before.

As comfy as my bed at home. Stayed in a cottage with my folks and slept on the floor with it as the bed was too soft

£59

But of course it may not be as good

mat

We have the 10cm thick Megamats and a 7.5cm one in the van and both are excellent and very comfortable... the superlatives are well deserved!

We've got a couple of the XL megamats. I was a bit sceptical as they are not cheap. Having had them a while now, if anything ever happens to one I'd buy another in a heartbeat. Well made and very, very comfortable.

Only just forked our for a Downmat 9LW that I’ll be using at a motorbike rally next weekend. Looking forward to a good nights sleep!

They look superb. But we have one of these instead, and it's also excellent whilst probably not as good as that Megamat, but smaller and a lot cheaper.:

Outwell Dreamcatcher

As a demonstration of how packable it is, it comes on a plane with us to the USA when we camp there.

I have a Megamat 10. It's more comfy than my bed and much more comfy than my old Alpkit.
