Absolutely ace, best Marvel film ever.

I'm not a huge fan of Marvel on film, but this is a cracker- opening sequence/fight had me a bit worried, but the rest of the film balances the action with the fairly straightforward story and gags nicely. Taika Waititi's first big film, certainly won't be his last.
There's some nods to Fifth Element and Flash Gordon, and a great soundtrack from Mark Mothersbaugh.
Whole family loved it which was a bit of a bonus.

The trailer really does look like a lot of fun, as well as visually incredible.

I'm tempted, and that's saying a lot since I am a cynical, burned out old bastard who has taken a really dim view of Marvel's "cinematic universe".

Again, just back from a cinematic masterpiece seriously brilliant the best Marvel film to date, funny as in all the right places and Loki back is always a good thing. Taika Waititi's performance is scene stealingley good too.

As far as negatives well its just I have to wait till May for the next installment... fantastic way to loose 2 hours

Likewise, just back from seeing it and it's utterly brilliant for all the above reasons and more. Highly recommended if outlandish comedic escapism with great visuals a passable plot and excellent casting and a script that flows is to your liking 🙂

Is it next summer for the Avengers?

Just got back from seeing it with the boy. Brilliant film, loved it. Wasn't that fussed about the first two Thor films but this was ace.

Not seen it yet, but can only shout loud reccomendations for Taika Waititi’s other films, especially What We Do In The Shadows, and Hunt For The Wilderpeople. Both brilliantly hilarious. TW’s cameo in Wlderpeople is the best scene ever.

Utter nonsense and great fun. Saw it in 3D, probably wouldn't bother with that.

Very much looking forward to this one - I loved the humour in the first one (especially at the beginning when he was coming to terms with having all those powers on earth and not understanding our customs etc) so if people are saying it's better then I can't wait 🙂

I didn't realise this was out yet! Is it the one where Hulk's 'a friend from work', or am I thinking of another film? We saw the trailer for it a while ago at the pictures.

yup, that's the one and the trailer pretty much sums up the movie. if you liked the look of the trailer, you'll enjoy the film. i did and did. thought the 3d was pretty poor though - saw a fair bit of ghosting and can't say there was anything to be gained from 3d.
EDIT -and the Rock dude was brilliant - we need more of him

I'm expecting the answer to be NO but would this film be suitable for a (nearly) 4 year old?

12A so probably not. Loud, violent although not gory violence. If you've seen the first one, more of the same but more of it if you know what I mean

Thanks. I haven't let him see any superhero movies (Lego Batman aside) but he does love Thor and the Hulk. I would almost let him watch the first Thor film, but I think those ice giants might be a bit scary. And the Dark Elves in the second one would probably be a bit too scary too (plus it's shit).

He has seen bits of the avengers films though, the Hulk smashing parts but there are darker parts which I think would scare him.

Hmm, my lad (now 7) has watched the first Thor film when he was younger and found it fine. The second was a tad too scary IMO so he hasn't seen that.

He's seen GOTG1 but not 2 (owing to sex and violence) and the Avengers movies (though he got bored of the second one and we turned it off).

Hoping it's suitable for him based on that?

It's absolutely glorious. So many hilarious throwbacks to previous movies as well. Definitely the funniest Marvel movie so far, but it does it in a way that works with the characters you already know rather than just sticking it on top.

I sat through the credits, there is something after a few minutes you need to see and something at the end but not important.

I could maybe see how we get on watching Thor 1 at home and take it from there. There's something about the volume and scale of the cinema that can make things scarier too though. I guess I'll have to vet it first 🙂

That's true. I remember having to take him out of the Minions Movie because he found it too scary... 🙄

My boys are 9 and almost 7, its only in the last few months that we have sat together and worked through all of the Marvel Universe movies and the previous x-men and spiderman movies together, they have really enjoyed them.

Clearly Deadpool and Logan are no goes and they understand that and have not shown them anything from the DC side of the fence.

Waited until now though as although violent they are done in a fantasy sort of way but didn't want my youngest to see them until a bit older and although there were a couple I had not already seen I had knowledge of pretty much all of the movies before they saw them.

All watched at home though and agree with some comments on the noise in the cinema etc.

I enjoyed it too, it's a lot of fun.

jonny, I reckon it is probably closer to Guardians of the Galaxy than to any other Marvel movie in tone and style. It's got that same sort of adventurous romp feeling to it.

Saw it yesterday with Dab jnr and we both enjoyed it.

Well...if you take him to the loo for the mass fights, gratuitous violence, beheading, electrocuting, jellifying, excess drinking, swearing, nudity, and gun-porn, there are some gags (most that he's unlikely to appreciate) and some spaceships and fireworks that he might like...and you won't see most of the film

Clearly it's wasted in him, and yet it sounds even better than I had hoped according to your somethingion.

Just out the cinema. Absolutely brilliant fun. Definitely the best MCU film so far.

Had to check the credits to make sure Wyn Masters wasn't the voice of Korg 😆

The line about knowing Hulk from work was apparently included on a suggestion from a Make A Wish kid, pretty cool.
