I was riding to work along an empty A24 between L'head and Ashtead this morning when a Surrey man out walking with his labrador and gumbooted wife randomly shouted "Get on the bike path" at me. We had words. He ran out of his...

Happy Bloody Christmans to you too. 🙄

Well on the dog walkers side it is a wide newly build cycle path that took months of disruption to build. It's just a pity it's almost unride-able with so many roads across it and a mixture of dropped and standard curbs. However honestly from the non cyclist point of view I can see why he's saying that. BTW I don't use it either.

It's all lies.
Nothing like that happened.
Wuppit doesn't even commute.
He only bought that red cycling jacket to go fishing.
He lives in the North East.
🙂

He was married to his Labrador? Is that a Surrey thing?

If he's there tomorrow morning, I may ask him to die choking in a pool of his own brain vomit.

I just realised that I was still going "Gggggggrrrrhhnnngggrrr" to meself when I pulled across Southwark Bridge an hour and a half later, ruining an otherwise pleasant pre-Christmas minimal-traffic commute..

Perhaps I'll just smile beatifically and ignore the bugger.

Not far from me as I live in Epsom. Awful lot of money for a cycle path that even the people who live there can't see why anyone would use it.

Few months ago on the way home from work in Lower Sunbury I was informed by an old lady driver that I was holding up the traffic and I should be in the cycle lane. I informed her that there was no cycle lane and the path on the left was the pavement. Annoyingly I thought I was pushing on quite well for a change at 20+. I snapped and said she was a stupid old bag.

Funny this is, half a mile down the road was a 1 mile traffic jam that is there most days. Who is holding up who now?

When it opened people were talking about it on Streetlife and asking why people weren't using it. So I forced myself to ride it from Leatherhead and back so I could report back - a painful experience! A bit of googling showed that people thought it was a waste of money and tried to stop it but council weren't going to back down - I think total bill was well over £1m. Maybe kids can use it to get to school?

I tell people to be angry and the council not the cyclists.

I live in Ewell and cycle commute to Canary Wharf but wasn't even aware of this path (rather embarrassingly as I drove along there on my way to Holmbury Hill yesterday).

where exactly is it?

It's basically the footpath on the north side of the road running from Leatherhead to Ashtead - well it stops before you get to Ashtead with no warning.

Epsom here as well and had similar conversation with some old boy, he seemed to take exception to me riding down 'his' road when there was a perfectly good cycle path that didn't for where I wanted to go.

Well on the dog walkers side it is a wide newly build cycle path that took months of disruption to build.

And I'm sure it will be great for those who wish to use it. Cycle paths are not mandatory - fortunately!

Not me, but - turn it towards Leatherhead. Keep going to the junction. Go left along the front of the terraced maisonettes. That's me over the "Karahi House"...
