North Yorkshire. I normally use a hosepipe when rinsing the car off but now can’t, & I fully agree with why. Local garage appears to have turned off both the drive through wash & the 2 jetwashes. However the hand car wash down the road was going flat out yesterday when I passed on the bike.
So, what’s the difference between me using my power wash & me driving down the road & getting them to do it?
( I wouldn’t even normally bother at all but I’m putting the car up for sale this week & it’s scruffy.)
Looks like I’ll be using a bucket & sponge/watering can but it just got me thinking.

It doesn’t apply to those who use them for commercial purposes.

Or who dont pay tax, minimum wage and have been known to traffic people and use slave Labour. But also what sircrashalot says. Bit surprised the jet washes and drive through are off, they often recycle the water, maybe energy costs are making them too expensive.

You can still use as many buckets of water as you like to rinse your car , as long as you fil them directly from the tap !!!!
Allotments are also not affected by the ban .

I am (not necessarily reliably) informed that some car wash places have a tank that collects the water that drains of the cars then clean and reuse.
Also it's commercial so as long as they are paying for the water it's allowed because otherwise no jobs for the car washers (whether they are good jobs and properly paid is another discussion).

Don’t know how many I used, should’ve kept count, but I bet I wouldn’t have used any more water with my hose on shower setting.

I think you’re right with some drive through washes, not so sure about jet wash types.
Anyway, the car’s clean. Anyone want a Mondeo Titanium X estate? 😜

It seems a bit odd to me.

So much rain recently it hasn’t occurred to me that I might want to use a hosepipe. I know that doesn’t help with car washing but who the **** does that anyway?

Me, about once a year or when I sell a car. In which case an average of every 5.33 years.

After feeling shamed by my car next to all my neighbours I decided to do it 3 or so years back.
Next day some **** decided to have a bonfire which dropped crap all over the car.
After that I stuck to my old routine of cleaning the windows, mirrors regularly and lights occasionally and leaving the rest to look after itself in heavy rain.

My Dad used to wash his car three times a week and always used a watering can.

Not going to lie I struggle to get around to washing mine alot as been doing work in the house for over 2 years but sounds like getting the local car wash to do it is the best…

Take advantage of working the arm muscles holding up the full watering can 😆
