Perhaps not my place to say since I'm not a particularly regular poster...but I have to say STW might do well to divide this forum into more categories. As it is new topics disappear to page quite a lot faster than you can skin a beetle. Surely it's worth dividing a bit so you can actually find stuff you're interested in...? (or maybe it's just me...)

i would love a sub fourum on cx (not racing) drive trains.

Then i could discuss the pros/ cons of 33/44 and 30/42 chinrings with other like minded folk, with out being botherd by all the CX (racing) drivetrain folks.

We need sub forums for the following.

Crisps
Airfix/Scalextic
Guy Martin appreciation
Top Gear
Greggs
Other non-Greggs pie vendors
Cross dressing (for Postierich)

I think its good as it is

Its really easy for a forum to get so quiet its not worth bothering with

Also STW is all about answering questions about topics that we know nothing about. Specialism could lead to a dangerously high quality of answers

Yes just for those who are struggling to grasp the beetle comment, which is a little crap because I made it up, yes you could skin a beetle very quickly owing to it having an exoskeleton.
Just think, a whole separate 'wheels' category where you could constantly recycle the size is everything issue...

But it's got no skin! It'd be more like shelling a crab.

(Edited, cos I am slow)

Well we should definitely have a 26"/29er/650b section so he does have a small point, but then again I'm usually wrong in all cases on here

I can exoskeleton a beetle much faster, but I prefer to skin them.

As for crabs, you can keep them. Pervert.

we should definitely have a 26"/29er/650b section

But which one is quicker?

Tips: use the search button

Or, more usefully, type site:singletrackworld.com and your search query into Google.

Well we should definitely have a 26"/29er/650b section so he does have a small point,

Aye, would be useful so the rest of us can avoid the endless wheel size debates, and avoid worrying about the kittens.

Will no-one think of the kittens?

Nah just need to wait. Fact*: Every single question that could ever be asked about bikes has been asked on here, and gets repeated at least once a week.

The fact that there isn't a load of sub sections is precisely why I like this place. Any more and it'd be bike radar. And that would never do.

could do the same as the swiss and german forums... have 178 sub forums, so the only way to easily see any updates is, ironically, to hit the "view all new/updated posts", so it then looks like here but with on+off topic combined in to one.

for one hobby in which I partake, I think there are actually more sub-forums than the number of regular contributors. so you could each basically have a private room.

Would suggest one addition:

The official line, btw, is that this has been discussed before and the consensus is that both the owners and (most of) the users prefer it this way.

These suggestions have turned up pretty much since the forum first started.
I've been a resident here since 2003, before the Great Hack, and I hate forums where there are countless stupid little sections which makes them very difficult to use.
Does the OP, who admits to not being a regular, not think its a bit of a cheek to start demanding it be changed just because he thinks it's a bit silly?

Would suggest one addition:

"Airfix/Scalextric/Lego"

it would be good to split lego into sub forums:

Duplo
Lego (standard)
Technix
Mindstorms

A fresh pair of eyes is always good and I'll defend to the hilt any new user's right to offer feedback. I didn't see any "demands", just suggestions.

Does the PP (previous poster, an acronym I just invented) not think that it's a bit of a cheek to be welcoming a new user by having a pop at them?

I'm pleased we have free speech and someone can post a picture from the live of brian without the whole place descending into death threats.

Whilst I'm pondering religious items, why is there a picture of the pope in the background so often in fresh good friday pictures and in the advent videos?

No demands just to correct whoever that was. I don't even really care that much - as much as anything I thought people might be annoyed and then my thread might stay on the first page for a while, which would be a result...

Also not new to correct whatever others said that - just an intermittent visitor.

OP, I'll let you into a secret. You just wrote the VERY FIRST REAL POST EVER on STW. Before you it was just populated by a bunch of monkeys with typewriters trying to recreate Shakespeare, so it doesn't really matter how many forae there are.

We just got a bit stuck on wheelsizes, kids toys and substandard baked goods.

Yours, Chief Makack.

If every bike related subject could only be covered ten times never mind once the forum would have had to close down years ago.

This forum is super friendly to new members compared to others I have known where new member baiting is a sport that seemingly resulted in as many new members getting banned on their first day as made it through the deliberate flaming/trolling initiation.
