A friend found this in a skip, it's got no name on it. I'd quite like something similar, what search term should I be using, preferably used and cheap although I doubt I'll find another one in a skip.

Google lens says Greaves and Thomas swivel chair at something north of £1000 for a refurb. Good find!
Ouch, anything similar available at bargain basement used prices?
It looks like they finished the chair body and then looked around the workshop for something to sit it on 😂
Just Google egg chairs?
My mum has/had a similar leather one, but she managed to break the metal subframe. I'd say it'd be easily repairable, if you want it. I took the chair and matching footstool to pieces, yesterday, to make it easier to get to the tip.
It's in the south of West Yorkshire, if you want to come and pick it up.

My girls got a little desk light and the instructions are only in chinese, I opened Lens, tapped on translate and pointed the camera at the instructions as if by magic the chinese writing had become English.
Proper wizardry!
That chair is pretty cool OP, your mate did great!!

The problem is you can't sell legally something of that age commercially without it being re-upholdered because of the fire and fume risks and the reupholstery will be a fair chunk of that price. Worth bearing in mind the chair you've found will have the same fabrics and foams that caused that legislation to come into force in the first place. The reason its in a skip is charity shops would have to refuse to take them without a fire safety label
With a name to search for and some patience you could save a search on eBay and see if any un-refurbished chairs come up from private sellers who won't be subject to that sales legislation
Surely that can't be right? I was looking at a genuine Eames in a shop in London recently. The whole point and justification for its eye-watering price tag was its originality.
OP, your example looks like a character from a Super Mario game. Which is cool. Maybe I took too much LSD as a yoof.

They can both be true - that shops are barred from selling furniture that isnt fire-labelled and that you've seen one for sale. People aren't allowed to sell stolen bikes but we've all seen stolen bikes for sale.
But an Eames chair can be 'original' and not that old as they've been in continuous production since they were first launched.
Huh, well you learn something new every day. Thanks. Good point about the continuous production, but the leather on this example looked lovely and worn in, old without looking knackered if you will.
Maybe it was being sold privately and just being 'shown' in the shop or some other chicanery.
