I'm a self employed window cleaner and I've discussed with the wife ways of keeping more of the money I earn. The discussion is along these lines, I'm considering options that will allow me to take the wife on in an administrative role, just a few hours a week invoicing, book keeping and updating records etc.
She's already self employed but her business has suffered due to.c19 and it makes sense to keep the business money in the family.
Would we be likely to encounter any legal issues if she was to do the work self employed and invoice my business each month?
Any experience and advice please.
No issue with tax. Etc as long as all invoice correctly and declared. With vat if applicable
Pretty standard business practice for sole traders. Obviously don't take the pee with hours and rates and she needs to declare it on her self assessment. You can also transfer some of your wife's tax allowance to you if that helps.
All fine. Just make sure you both account for it.
Sounds fine as long she is doing real work that needs to be done. TBH though taking part of her tax allowance may achieve the same benefit without the smoke and mirrors.
Insist on cash payments?
That's what my old window used to do.
She could hold the camera while you were 'cleaning windows'. Who knows , you could do a whole confessions of a Window Cleaner series. Got to be better that Are you bored enough to watch me make an Albatross
