I've met and slightly fallen in love with a Briard.

I'd love to get any experiences and recommendations from owners.

Cheers, m.

Grandfather had one as a rescue dog years ago. Wonderful dog that was incredibly loyal and brilliant with us kids as well as being a good guard dog. Really territorial and used to corner any strangers who walked onto the property!

Only problem he had with it was with sheep which they had to knock out of him quickly as he used to try and herd half of Dartmoor where they lived..

Wow! How much time can you spend each day brushing and detangling that lovely coat? 😀

I've done a bit of research since I first posted; 'they' (Kennel Club etc) reckon about 10 - 15 minutes a day grooming. It becomes more time consuming if it's not done regularly / goes matted.

@monde - interesting to hear, as I'm in West Dorset, surrounded by farms! But, they're working dogs, so a lot will come down to solid training and socialisation.

10-15 minutes sounds optimistic! Definitely gorgeous and full of character, please keep us updated as we do love our doggy threads on here. 8)
