Loads of things have been invented that are good and truly useful but they have also had a much wider effect that ruins the good stuff.

I know it's a cliche but I'll start with smartphones. I love mine but I saw 2 folks walking side by side down a road on a beautiful morning both staring down at their phones. Life would be better on balance without them

Whatyagot?

Helicopters. Theres virtually no land they couldn't open up to anyone rich enough.

And yet there's been no free-for-all in the private use of helicopters on every patch of land up and down the country.
Because CAA rules apply to where you can fly and land one.
Balanced against how many lives have been saved all over the world by choppers at sea, in mountains, and other difficult to access areas, not to mention air ambulances, one of which saved my brother's life after a motorcycle accident.
Sorry, you'll have to do better than that.
How about guns?

sometimes you talk, sometimes you don't, sometimes you look at what's going on around you, sometimes you let your mind wander and dream.

Can't believe no-one's mentioned nuclear/biological/chemical weapons.
I can cope with 'normal' weapons but that other stuff has always scared the crap out of me.

I have no issue with the technology nor with multi cavity klystrons. Just don't like them in the kitchen warming up sub standard meals 8)

Edit:Wikipedia says yes but how could 'spork' ever be a bad thing?

And while we are there, death to whoever invented auto spell checkers so you have to type spork 5 times until it is accepted 👿

Unless they were grown from cuttings there must be at least one other person to shoulder the blame for them.

Not strictly an invention, but realising we could extract oil from the ground and then choose to either burn it or make plastic shit out of it has a lot to answer for.

Very good...good job you dont use any plastic materials eg computers or smartphones to view this forum then isn't it!

That plastic crap they give away with kids meals at fast food places. Wtf. It amazes me that it has never been banned although we are forced to buy our plastic bags now that contain about a 100th of the amount of plastic

Being able to send emails for free.
If you had to pay a tiny nominal fee, say 0.0001p, normal people and companies wouldnt notice, but spammers, sending out millions a day certainly would.

Seadog, there is no such thing as free email - someone IS paying for that server infrastructure and bandwidth. A lot of spam is sent through insecure or virus compromised machines. Even at your rates a million messages would cost £1. Not too hard to make that back if your catch rate is right.
