“After struggling for 20 minutes, I decided to Google the problem and found an article about an 11-year-old boy who had the same problem. The solution in that was more magnets. To put on the outside to offset the pull from the ones inside.

“As I was pulling downwards to try and remove the magnets, they clipped on to each other and I lost my grip. And those two magnets ended up in my left nostril while the other one was in my right. At this point I ran out of magnets.”

Classic. Should have gone out for a bike ride instead.....

(I have 40-odd PhD / Post doc physicists in my team at work. I've got a degree in chemistry. I shall be using this to illustrate the need to do a risk assessment and project plan and if I accidentally mention intelligence vs common sense as well......)

The best bit, his Dr wife, took him to hospital, so her colleagues could have a good laugh 😁

Yup. Speaking as the husband of a frighteningly clever physicist, I'm amazed I've never had to take her to hospital with a magnet-based nasal injury.

“I have some electronic equipment but really no experience or expertise in building circuits or things,”
Made me laugh!
“My partner took me to the hospital that she works in because she wanted all her colleagues to laugh at me.
Made me laugh a lot lot more!

There was an old woman who swallowed a fly...
This could've ended in a scrapyard with one of those huge electro-magnets on the end of a crane.

Pulling nasal hairs out can make your eyes water, (according to a friend), but messing around with high-power neodymium magnets near your nose? The thought makes my eyes water!
“My partner took me to the hospital that she works in because she wanted all her colleagues to laugh at me.“
Well, it could have been worse...
